Description

Overlooking the Bristol Channel, this property offers the perfect get away with its quiet location and beautiful views.

Set on a quiet country lane in beautiful walking country overlooking the Bristol Channel, Parsonage Farm is the perfect holiday location to ’get away from it all’. There has been a house here for almost a thousand years and that rich history is still evident in both properties. Reputedly, Coleridge wrote ’Kubla Khan’ in Culbone Parsonage, the main house. Parsonage Farm Stables (ref 15800) occupies what would once have been the hayloft floor of the adjoining barn, and Parsonage Otter Stables (ref 18192) has been attractively converted from the old stables. The holiday properties are ideally located as a base for walking, touring and riding on the crown of Exmoor. Places to visit include Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth, Watchet Marina and Dunster Castle (NT). The glorious West Somerset and North Devon Coast, Minehead, Exmoor and Lorna Doone Valley are all within easy reach. The highest ’Free House’ pub on Exmoor is just a mile or so away from the house. Picturesque Porlock Weir with its shingle beach is just 3 miles down the hill via a toll road, and local shops can be found in the sleepy village of Porlock. Refs 15800 and 18192 can be booked together to accommodate up to 7 guests.

First floor: 2 steps to living room. Dining room. Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 bunk (can be twin). 3 steps down to bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (fuel £2 per basket). Washing machine. Ample parking.

Both properties: Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Video. Electric cooker. Microwave. Gardens with terrace and furniture. Barbecue. No smoking. NB: Some areas of garden are steep, with natural streams and ponds.

This cottage was the first week of our honeymoon. The owners lived nearby, friendly, helpful, kind, but not intrusive. A lovely character cottage with both Sea and hilly countryside within Exmoor boundary. An excellent private garden with Sea views. Nicely comfortable furniture, decor, equipment. Lovely kitchen area etc Constructive Critism:- main double bed mattress needs replacing with new one. I do not suffer from back trouble normally but did during our stay? The bathroom although clean, quaint and passable, really needs modernising with either new shower unit or modern wall fitted shower with safety glass screen over outer side of Bath? One or two interior doors not able to close properly. However over all we would rate this cottage as 9 out of 10. Edgar and Ann, Southfleet, Kent.

We have just returned from a very relaxing stay at Parsonage Farm Stables. If you want to escape the noise and pollution of every day living and go back to a cleaner, quieter place in time, this is the holiday cottage for you. The views from the cottage of the surrounding countryside are beautiful. If you enjoy walking, then you can explore right from the cottage door. Do bring good boots and waterproofs though because the weather moves fast on the moor. The owners are extremely nice, dog friendly people and keen to make your stay perfect. Thank you.

We have stayed on this site of three properties several times over the past few years and have enjoyed the experience every time. This two bedroomed property is basic. The whole place could do with updating and the kitchen is extremely small. However, it serves the purpose as a base for a walking holiday. The owner made us very welcome by leaving us with a fresh loaf, jam and eggs. A daily supply of fresh bread and eggs is available at a reasonable cost.

Great getaway from it all! We loved the location and cottage. We loved exploring all the nooks. The cottage was very well equipped and even a good selection of books and games. The garden was secure and my 2 boisterous dogs Stayed safe. Walking them off lead was a little difficult with all the livestock but we managed. A great holiday.

Nice place to stay in a pleasant and interesting environment. The House has a bit of a dark atmosphere about it.
