Convenient location

Conveniently situated between the market towns of Bungay and Harleston, these attractive properties are set at the edge of the owner’s 6 acre farm, adjacent to the A143. Park Farmhouse (ref 30235) dates back over 400 years and is a listed building retaining many unique historic features, with some of the timbers dating back 800 years. Originally built for the local mayor, the farmhouse was once the village bakery and the original bread oven is still in the dining room – it then became a riding school. Beamed throughout, with original herringbone brick flooring in the dining room, it has two woodburners and a well-equipped bespoke kitchen with a range cooker. Oaktree 1 (ref 19980) is a single-storey property with lots of character. Fishing is available on request at the owner’s 4½-acre fishing lake, 2 minutes walk away (at cost). With separate drive and courtyard gardens, the properties have been converted and furnished to a very good standard. There is easy access to the country city of Norwich, seaside resorts at Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and the Norfolk Broads at Beccles. The market towns of Harleston, 3 miles, and Bungay, 4 miles have a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants and for beer enthusiasts the small independent breweries of Grain, 1 mile, and St Peter’s, 3 miles, are easily accessible. Shops and restaurant 3 miles, pubs 200 yards. Properties 19980 and 30285 can be booked together to accommodate up to 17 guests.

    We were promised 7 double beds and a single pull out bed (to sleep 15 people) but there were actually 6 double beds, 1 single bed and a single pull out bed so unfortunately someone had to pay to sleep on an air bed brought along by us 'just in case'.

    Well equipped kitchen and sociable dining area which worked well for 14 of us (3 families). Comfortable lounge area. Clean and tidy. Quite close to a busy road. Disappointed to lose some of our £300 cash deposit as the front door handle was found to be broken after we left.

    Lovely old farmhouse and lovely hosts. Not enough equipment for 16 though and mismash of cutlery/crockery. Low beam to kitchen is a hazard but the style of the house is lovely. Needs more social friendly settees but otherwise a lovely property and would stay here again.

    Great cottage, all the amenities you should wish for description of the cottage is incorrect although suited us better. 1st floor living space 2nd floor 4 double bedrooms one with a on suite, 3rd floor 2 double bedrooms one of which has a single bed room off it. ( single accessible through double room only.) single room has pull out mattress for another single.

    we had a great time at Park House and owners were very welcoming and helpful. The grounds need a lot of work and when the owners plans are brought to fruition it will be a marvellous place to stay

    Enjoyed this house with the family (12) they had low beams so watch your head the house had everything we needed comfortable beds the owners trissy & Phil couldn't do enough for you would definitely go there again.

    15 of us stayed at Park Farm House for one week this August. Overall it was fine but there are some improvements that could be made: - Better signage at the front of the house. We couldn't tell which building we were meant to be staying in, and spent a lot of time driving up and down the road. - There were lots of signs dotted all over the house with "do's and don'ts". It would have been far better to have all the house rules contained in one place i.e. a blackboard or a book. - Moving the bins further away from the doors at the front of the house. The bins attracted flies which flew straight into the kitchen. - The fridge in the kitchen was unsuitable to store food for 15 people. It was never really cold and it meant a lot of the food we brought went bad very quickly. There was another fridge in the out house we could have used but it was inconvenient to keep going outside for things when trying to cook for a big group. - In the description, it said the house had 15 beds but we only had 14. - The furniture in the living room could be arranged in a more sociable way. Some of the sofas were turned away from each other. - The shower attachment in the family bathroom wasn't working which meant we were effectively one shower down. On the positive side: - There was more than enough crockery and cooking pots to cook for a large group. - The dining room was the hub of the house, it was great to be able to eat together on a large table. - The owners were very helpful and were happy to provide us with whatever we needed, inc. a washing line - Great amount of space indoors. With 7 children staying they had ample space to move around.
