Description

Enjoying delightful views over a lake and pastureland in a tranquil setting, this cottage is the ideal place to relax.

In a tranquil setting and surrounded by open countryside and woodland, this secluded detached Victorian house enjoys delightful views over a lake and pastureland. Ideal as a holiday home for an extended family (or two families holidaying together), there is much to see and do in this scenic area of Sussex.
The house has a sunny south facing terrace and substantial garden. In addition guests will enjoy the use of 15 acres of secluded bluebell woods and pasture leading to a 1-acre lake. Nearer the house there is a smaller lake in a woodland setting where coarse fishing is available. The property has access to an extensive network of footpaths through this unspoilt part of the low weald rich in animals, birds and plant life.
The pretty village of Kirdford has a shop, pub and restaurant and there are numerous country pubs in local villages. The quaint town of Petworth (4 miles) is famous for its stately home, Capability Brown park and antique shops. The charming small town of Midhurst as well as Billingshurst and Haslemere are all within 20 minutes’ drive and have good restaurants and more extensive shopping. Motor racing and horse racing are nearby at Goodwood. Leornardslee and West Dean Gardens, Parham House, the Weald and Downland museum and the South Downs themselves are all close. Chichester (½ hour) has its ancient cathedral, festival theatre, Roman ruins, harbour tours and tearooms. At Arundel the castle and Wildfowl Trust are popular. Wittering and other beaches are half an hour away and there is polo at Midhurst and numerous golf courses within easy reach. Shops ¾ mile.

We loved the Cottage and location very much. We found the lack of everyday items such as loo roll, dish washer salt, etc was difficult for us to rectify over Easter Weekend. Generally the cottage was a bit tired with several items needing fixing or replacing, however, it is a lovely house and the children really loved playing in the woods and trying to fish in the pond.

The cottage is advertised as a 12 sleeper. It is not a 12 sleeper - it sleeps 10 comfortably and our 2 children were on camp/air beds.

Great weekend away. Lovely holiday cottage with plenty of space. Big clear kitchen was excellent. Lovely surroundings. A perfect break. (For those arriving by train it would be a good idea to pre-book a taxi as there aren't many on a Friday night.)

We had a fab time, gorgeous location but we mainly stayed in the cottage/garden, very comfortable. Enjoyed the log burner! Great size for a big group to get together.
