Lovely place to stay with a nice pub nearby. Bus stop next to the door.

Size wise it was just about adequate for the two of us; it would have been very cramped had we been four. Overall it was in a good state, but there had obviously been insufficient attention to small detail - two light bulbs needed replacing and the torch in the kitchen was not working. Surely these should be checked before new guests arrive. Kitchen quite well equipped, but no washing-up sponge, kitchen towel or kitchen roll. Instructions for rubbish disposal and recycling not clear. We texted the owners about this as soon as we arrived, but had no reply. Overall we had no contact at all with the owners - not even a quick phone call to check that all was well. Left a useful selection of basic foodstuffs, which was welcome.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The accommodation is for 2 + 2 and whilst it is very comfortable for two it does as advertised only have one bedroom. I think it does offer very good value and gives the option for families. I am so sorry you did not receive any contact from me and apologise for the lack of response about recycling. I live next door and whilst I don't always make contact with the guests, I am always happy to be contacted. On this occasion the text was sadly missed. I always leave a dish cloth and washing up liquid along with tea and coffee, there is always a welcome pack of milk, bread and eggs as the nearest shop is a little distance away. I appreciate your comments and they are taken constructively.

Positives: Very nice cottage, well presented, lovely views from the back, parking, easy access to Lewis, south coast and main roads, pub in the village. Negatives: The road through the village is surprisingly busy and the noise starts early in the morning, broadband is very slow but useful to have, DVD player but bring your own as none supplied.

We loved the cottage-it was just right for two but would be a bit of a squash for more. The road didn't bother us as the cottage is set well back and has secondary glazing. The bedroom in the loft was cosy, but unsuitable for small children or elderly people as the staircase was a bit tricky. We were lucky with the weather and spent quite bit of time looking around Lewes which is a beautiful little town and walking the coastal paths. We hope to return later in the year.
