Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

With its own private hot tub, this two-storey, unusual lodge is perfect for exploring the whole of this friendly and unspoilt county.

These three lodges, each with a hot tub on the decking, offer differently styled accommodation for groups of six or eight. Ideal for holidays or visiting the two large wedding venues nearby in Otterburn. Leafy Run (ref W44043) is a contemporary style lodge with a hot tub, and has a peaceful decked area. Decorated to a very good standard, and slightly smaller than its sister lodge (W44043), Squirrel Lodge is the first lodge on the edge of this small exclusive park. Set over two levels, this quirky and unusual lodge is a lovely retreat for relaxing in, whether you are indulging in the private hot tub or sitting on either of the two verandahs. Leafy Retreat (ref UKC2663) has high spec granite worktops in the kitchen, built-in bedroom furniture and lovely bathrooms. With a fully renovated restaurant on site, the lodges are less than a mile from the centre of the village of Otterburn, on the very edge of the National Park. The park is just inside the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the largest in Europe, ideal for stargazers and astronomers. The village has a mill shop, and the shop/café sells local produce. A highly acclaimed wedding venue, The Petit Chateau is easily accessed only a mile away and guests can enjoy staying in the lodges and having some down time after the wedding. The long wooded drive up to the park sets the scene for your break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A perfect base for couples or families to explore the Northumberland National Park, Kielder Forest and observatory, and the Borders. Situated 16 miles from the Border Counties, outdoor enthusiasts will love this location which is a favourite with walkers and adventure seekers. Bellingham is close by and has a choice of tea rooms, pubs and village shops. A day trip to Alnwick, with its famous castle, and the Northumberland Heritage Coast, which is peppered with castles and beaches, make for fine days out. Hadrians Wall is only a few miles away and is steeped in history, with Roman forts and museums along the way. Hexham and Rothbury are easily accessible, and have plenty of pubs and shops. Beach 35 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub ¾ mile and restaurant on-site.

The Cottage was a beautiful and idyllic place to stay with plenty of time to relax and unwind. All amenities were modern and well equipped - we did find the induction hob difficult to use without any instructions however and the cottage would have really benefitted from having access to wifi as it limited entertainment. Overall we had a great stay, comfy beds, spacious lodge, lovely being dog friendly, this was certainly value for money and the Hot Tub was a huge plus.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. One criticism would be the cleanliness of the floor in the bathroom and the cottage had a unpleasant smell upon arrival. However, overall it was good value for money and would stay again.

We are a family of 5 with a dog and we really enjoyed our stay at squirrel cottage. It was in a good location & very clean however the toilet with the septic tank was a little smelly. On the whole though very enjoyable.

Looked really nice on the pictures on the internet and it was. Unfortunatly the shower head fell off I had to fix it once I had put it back on hardly any water came through so I đe scaled the head. I put the shower head back on and the water came out good but there was no cold water to the shower to cool the water down. So the shower was dangerously hot and you couldn't stand under it. The hot tub was good but the water was cloudy from the start and in the tub floating about were numerous bits of plastic that looked like had broken off things. In front of the cottage was what sounded like and looked like a building site. Came home a day earlier nothing much to do and miles to drive to get anywhere. Bit poor set up if im going to be honest.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am at a loss as to understand why these guests did not contact me as my number is inside the cabin and on their booking details. The next guests that went in notified me of the problem and this was rectified within 30 minutes off them ringing. I am very disappointed to have received this rating.

Lovely, well presented lodge. Very clean inside and well equipped throughout. We really enjoyed staying here as a family of six. The location is nice as it has the woods behind it. Currently in August 2017 there is building work going on elsewhere on the site, this was pointed out at the time of booking. The noise was not too disruptive and did not disturb us at all. However there was some debris in the area near the lodge as a result. Nothing major, but did spoil the overall presentation a little. The hot tub was great. The man responsible for the tub and the lodge was very pleasant and helpful. The chocolates on arrival were appreciated. The lodge is a short drive from a village which has a reasonable selection of essentials. Would recommend bringing most stuff with you though. There are several pubs within driving distance. Be prepared for a drive to local places of interest. The lodge is supplied with towels, but I would recommend bringing your own large towels for the hot tub. Bathrobes would be good to bring too. We loved Squirrel Lodge it was immaculate inside and was a quirky, cosy, hideaway. We would stay again.

The owner contacted us to warn us about building work happening on site - offering either a discount or refund. I really appreciated this honesty. I would return to the campsite again, once all the work was complete, and with the facilities and play areas installed. The onsite restaurant was expensive, and whilst it would make a fabulous wedding venue, it's not really somewhere I wanted to take my two young children. If I return, I would definitely upgrade to a bigger cabin. The location is beautiful and the kids adored the hot tub, but the cabin, whilst impeccably clean, was 'snug' in terms of the living accommodation. We struggled with the four of us and my boys suffered from 'cabin envy' as every other lodge was bigger. Definitely worth the extra money for an upgrade.

Had a fantastic stay. The lodge had everything we needed and was very well equipped in the kitchen. Was spotlessly clean and fresh towels left for us. Hot tub was fab - made good use of that! The hotel next to it was brilliant. Excellent food and yummy cocktails - definately worth a visit... or 2! Would definately stay again!

Cottage was dirty with vomit dried in the toilet bowl, rotten food left in the cupboards in the kitchen, also work surfaces dirty and sticky. Beer bottle tops in the hot tub an under the couchs. Check in time 16:00hrs which we had to hand around outside for 30minutes whilst waiting for the "cleaner" to finish, eventually got in at 16:35hrs. The second day our visit was disturbed by the owner arriving with another man to carry out a safety check on the property.
