Perfect for family holidays, short breaks and midweek escapes, these two holiday properties are situated in the picturesque village of Bonchurch, close to the seafront on the outskirts of Ventnor. Orchard Leigh Villa (ref W43433) is a detached villa with a contemporary open-plan living space. Three of the bedrooms have views over the garden, and the twin bedroom has views across St Boniface Shute and Downs.
Orchard Leigh Cottage (ref UKC2515) is a semi-detached cottage which has been built in the ground of Orchard Leigh Villa. The cottage has a private courtyard area where you can enjoy the picturesque surroundings. The internal accommodation comprises of one kingsize bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a further double room with zip and link beds and an en-suite shower room. There is also allocated parking for two cars. Grange Cottage (ref UKC3050) sleeps eight guests, has a private courtyard and views across St Boniface Shute and Downs.

The village of Bonchurch lies just to the east of Ventnor and is renowned for its literary connections. Writers and poets such as Dickens, Stackpole and Swinburn all resided here for a time. Dickens remarked the village was ’the prettiest place I ever saw in my life, at home or abroad.’

The Victorian seaside town of Ventnor is situated on the southern side of the Isle of Wight, right in the heart of the famed Undercliff, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visitors will find a great variety of established local shops, restaurants and public houses serving locally caught fresh fish and locally brewed ales. Sheltered from the north by the National Trust owned St Boniface Downs, the area benefits from its own micro-climate, which provides an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna.

Explore the rock pools, great local walks and easy access to the many attractions the Isle of Wight has to offer. Outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. Beach 350 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

    Ideal for our party of 6 adults 3 young boys and a baby, excellent accommodation. Although building works were going on next door they did not affect us and there was ample parking for our 3 large cars. No local shops but nice walk along the seafront, about 30 minutes, to Ventnor

    Fantastic relaxing holiday with our daughters and the grandchildren. We all enjoyed ourselves despite the weather not being that good. Cottage was well equiped, spacious and homely. Loved it.

    We enjoyed the Island.Once inside the accommodation we were very comfortable,however our overall pleasure was reduced by ongoing building works and steps which were difficult especially with self catering holiday luggage.We have normally had far larger garden areas in this size of property and this aspect would be a drawback for active families

    We should have been warned that when we turned into the car park it was on a building site. The house cannot be seen from the car park so we had to ask a neighbour for directions. The house itself is very nice and we had an enjoyable holiday but we had two major criticisms - the lack of Wi-Fi (which we did know of before but it turned out to be a pain) and the showers are too small and the shower head on the one in my bedroom refused to adjust and was a spray on one side and a torrent on the other.

    Lake Villa is a well equipped, spacious house with high quality fittings and soft furnishings. The showers, though adequate, could be improved to bring them in line with the quality finish elsewhere in the house. The steps up to the house are very different to what we imagined. A more detailed, honest description would really help people visiting with elderly relatives and small children. There was a lot of building work going on during our visit, of which we were unaware until we arrived. Again, some honesty about this prior to the visit would have been appreciated. Overall, we had a lovely time at the house and found it to be spacious for the six of us.
