We had a lovely holiday in a beautiful part of Ireland. The owner made us so welcome - even leaving an apple pie for our arrival. Lots of peace and quiet - lovely

Gannet Cottage is in a great location, with Pub, Restaurant, fish & chip shop, a small supermarket and gift shop plus local post office, all with in a couple of minutes walk. It is also in a very quiet location down a narrow lane, just behind the main street. Kilmore Quay is picturesque with some thatched cottages in the village and a pretty working harbour, with two grey seals as regular visitors. The Cottage is in the middle of three terraced Cottages, with its own small private courtyard. Which is a sun trap in the afternoon. There is parking available for the Cottage for one car. Electricity is an extra so a supply of 2euro coins is a must, as the meter does eat them up. We found we spent 28euros in the electricity meter over a two week holiday. Heron Cottage is attached, and there was no noise disturbance. There are partial sea views from the Cottage, and a useful 'short cut' to the 'small' beach, although walking down the main street only takes 3-4 minutes to get to the harbour. The Cottage itself is quite quirky, with an unusual layout. We found comfortable for our needs and clean. There are walks direct from the Cottage, which are lovely if you want 'non driving days. There are also boat trips available to the Saltee Islands from the harbour. Kilmore Quay is a great place we found for a relaxing holiday.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay so much. We work very hard to maintain high standards. To reassure you, the electricity is charged at the unit rate charged by the supplier to us, minus the standing charge and levy which we pay. As you stayed during an exceptional cold snap, in spite of the fact that partial heating is included in the rental, additional heating was required which would have contributed to the unusual high cost which is normally in the region of €8 per week at that time of year. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Thank you again for staying with us.
