This stunning church conversion sits in the centre of a small, quiet Cumbrian village and is perfectly placed for a holiday home, as it is sandwiched between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. The unique design cleverly combines original features, such as stained glass windows, beams and stonework with a contemporary, open-plan style which offers light, bright and spacious living areas, an appealing kitchen with porcelain tiled floor, a bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bath plus two en-suite shower rooms, each with a walk-in shower, along with comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms. Set in beautiful countryside, the area provides excellent walking and very good cycling. The traditional market town of Kirby Stephen, 2 miles, offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is also on the scenic Carlisle to Settle railway line. Within a 40-minute drive, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teasdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England, is a short, pretty drive away. The river which runs through the village of Soulby is a focal point for picnics and paddling, and children can also enjoy the nearby playground. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.

    We have stayed at the Church twice in less than 12 months so l think that speaks for itself. Both times we have had a super time, very relaxing and excellent weather. There are some lovely walks around the area which suited us and our Labrador retriever as did the enclosed garden. A pretty and friendly village. Would highly recommend. Loved the stained glass windows.

    A stunning chapel. the kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Exceptionally clean throu out. A welcome pack of bread, milk, wine and thorntons cakes was very well received , even our 3 dogs were given a bag of treats as well as dog towels to use. A large secure garden was perfect for our pups and logs were provided for the wood burner with an option to purchase more if needed. We were very fortunate to have chose a sunny week and the sun shining through the stain glass windows was just magical. Wooden outdoor furniture was provided which we made good use of. A perfect week away and we will most definitely be returning.

    Fantastic holiday. Bottle of wine and chocolates for the children arrival. Quality of the furnishings excellent. Lots of detail thought about down to extra drop down panel on gate for small dogs. Local village hall had a quiz night and hot pot with bring your own wine.

    Amazing beautiful "cottage". Owners extremely helpful. Wonderful village location. Sympathetic and sensitive conversion to an extremely high standard. Very clean and bright. Would recommend highly. Great area (Obviously!)

    This is a wonderful property and somewhere I would happily live never mind holidaying at. St Luke's is finished to a very high standard and is very comfortable. We found all in a very clean condition and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The furniture and beds are comfortable. I do like a good nights sleep! The garden is very large (it is a churchyard after all) and is secure for you dog to run in. The main gate has a drop down flap to lower after closing, but if you have a small dog it may get through the bars. We always travel with a roll of plastic meshing that we tied to the gate and problem solved. The wall is about 4 feet high all around. Ideal location for trips to either the Dales or Lakes, but we enjoyed walking locally too. There is a pretty walk along a disused railway line just minutes from the door. Kirkby Stephen is a bustling little town with all amenities we required, but Sainsbury's do deliver if you shop online. The neighbour's are very friendly and a mine of local information. We were even invited to the monthly lunchtime gathering at the Village Hall. This is only the second property that we have stayed at and been more than happy to score 10's all round. And no, we're not related to the owner!

    We had a lovely time at Old St Luke's Church. It is very well equipped, comfortable and clean. The efficient owners thought of everything even down to supplying coffee,tea,sugar,bread,butter,cakes, also a nice bottle of white wine, very thoughtful. We will be returning in the future. It is also very dog friendly and our Labrador retriever loved the garden. The stained glass windows were beautiful especially with the sun shining through what a gem of a place. Would highly recommend.

    The property was unusual and took a bit of getting used to. The stained glass windows meant that there were no outside views or openings downstairs. The lack of sockets for electric razors was inconvenient for some members of our party. A problem with bedside lights was dealt with by the owner very promptly and efficiently. Having said that we all enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend the place to people who are looking for something bit different.
