Within a 40-minute drive, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teasdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England, is a short, pretty drive away. The river which runs through the village of Soulby is a focal point for picnics and paddling, and children can also enjoy the nearby playground. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.
