Nice place and good location. A few negatives: - no proper shower - parking not ideal - adjacent to a surprisingly busy road - lighting in kitchen area not great - no cooker extractor fan - fridge too small

We really enjoyed a mini break but wouldn't stay for a week.

We have had two lovely weeks in the old post office. The cottage itself is cosy, nice and tidy. One feels very welcome. From Jevington you can make great walks on the downs nearby and Lewes, Eastbourne and Alfriston are lovely places to visit. You have to visit the pub, the eight bells, it offers good food and local beers. And mind your head. We are not tall people (1.72 m) the beams are really low. But you get used to it. The low beams are the reason why we gave a 7 as a rate for comfort. The old post office could be a little bit less comfortable when you are tall.

The ceilings are very low. anybody above 180cm cannot stand upright in most parts of the cottage! I feel this should have been mentioned in the advert as a downside to the quaint 500 year old building. The cottage is 5m from the road leading to the cliff so expect about 3-5 cars speeding past every minute during peak hours. The 'garden' is minuscule and can only be accessed walking around the cottage. It is not suitable for children to play in a safe environment. As a pet friendly cottage there is the lingering smell of wet dog and hairs everywhere on the carpet and sofa. The owner lives right next door and above so privacy is limited The surrounding area is amazing. Great pub 200m away. Walks can start from the cottage past fields of horses, cows and sheep to the delight of our children ! The kitchen was well stocked with tea, biscuits, kitchen towels, detergent, bin bags etc. The Landlord was friendly and helpful. Overall the value for money was not the best.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at The Old Post Office Cottage. The photographs on the website are current and clearly show the low beams throughout the property. This is also stated within the property description and we are sorry that you appear to have missed this. The road through the village can get a little busy during commuting times but this has never been reported as an issue previously. There is no back door directly to the garden, and it is also mentioned within the property description that we live next door. The photos do show that the cottages are semi-detached and whilst guests are in residence, we do try to be as unobtrusive as possible. The garden does have a drop down onto the path at the back, but as long as a child is supervised at all times, this should not pose a problem. We would not expect a child to be left unattended in the garden at any time. We are pet friendly, I sincerely apologise for any pet hairs found on furniture. I have a notice asking pet owners not to allow their animals onto the furniture and I also provide dog throws. I attempt to hoover thoroughly but obviously on this occasion it fell short of the your expectations, but in the eight years or so I have been running the holiday lets no-one has ever mentioned this, and most reviews comment on the cleanliness of the cottage
