The cottage was a lovely old building, with quirky features and a warm feel. We were made extremely welcome by our hosts, who were very accommodating and friendly.

The website description made us think this would be a peaceful cottage in a rural location. The place actually shook as traffic, including huge lorries, thundered by! If you want to watch traffic, this is the perfect place for you. If you want quiet, look for somewhere else. Also, had to wash everything in the kitchen before use as it all felt sticky and dirty. Not a great choice and we came home early.

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that you did not enjoy your time with us but equally we are very disappointed that you felt you could not raise your concerns during your stay but instead chose to leave without saying anything while we were at work. Our cottage is in an excellent position for visiting the cities of Cambridge and Ely and the surrounding countryside. We have lived here for 18 years and for the last 11 years we have welcomed guests from all over the world and most have found it a first class location. But we have also learnt over the years that we cannot please everyone and we do accept that there will always be mixed reviews. You will have noticed from our guest book that many previous visitors did not share your problems. But Cambridgeshire is a vibrant, growth area and unfortunately it was a fact of life on a few days during your stay that work was taking place in the region and traffic was diverted through the village. Sadly, we had no control over this. The location of the village, however, means it is very quick and easy to reach all surrounding attractions across four counties and London and many of our visitors have found they can pack a great deal into a short stay if they so choose. Prior to your visit, I thoroughly checked the cleanliness of the cottage as I do before every booking and I would dispute the fact that the kitchen equipment was not up to scratch. But again you failed to raise this matter with us during your stay so we could not address it.
