We Booked at the very last minute and were pleasantly surprised by the area. Loved visiting the stunning RSPB Bempton cliffs with an amazing Gannet colony. Flamborough with its lighthouse, cliffs and coastal walks was excellent too . Plenty of excellent fish and chips and beach side cafes to choose from . The cottage gave us a good base and was in a quiet rural location next to a stunning windmill restoration. Basic cottage but clean, comfortable beds and plenty of space and dog friendly too .

Mill Stone Cottage is lovely and decorated nicely and in a brilliant location for visiting the Puffins at Bempton Cliffs, this is really why we stayed here. This was our first pet friendly cottage, during a heat wave in mid June 2017. It certainly smelled of dog downstairs, and we thought we were going to have to leave but stuck it out. With windows open at all times it got slightly better, but decided to stay out as much as possible. I will never stay in a pet friendly cottage again. Most of the cottage looks good and is very tidy, it would be perfect but for a few little things. The shower heads look really dirty but it could just be lime scale. Rusty toilet roll holders, rust on the towel rack in the bathroom. Floor in the bathroom looks dirty - I hope it wasn't. Didn't dare use the microwave as there were two spots on the inside of the door that looked melted. Cobwebs in windows with lots of dead flies - I'm not sure how long it takes a spider to make its web but the flies were fresh. The property says it has a washing machine, which is actually in a shed somewhere on the grounds for all to use. You can bring your car right up to the door of the cottage to drop off bags, but have to park it in a allocated area which is right outside two of the other cottages (right under their windows) so wasn't worried about it being out of sight from our cottage. I would highly recommend these cottages to friends who own dogs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We were so disappointed to hear how upset you were with your stay in the mill stone cottage, we pride ourselves on our overall satisfied customers, so with answer to so many complaints I will try to answer each one. Because our cottages are dog friendly we clean our carpets regularly, and the room carpet was professionally cleaned only two weeks before your visit and has been cleaned again since you're comment There was lime scale on the shower head. Unfortunately Bridlington water has very high lime scale and is constantly a problem, we take down and deep clean as much as we can, when a gap in customers allow. There was slight rust on shower rail and toilet roll holder which have both been replaced since you're comments. The microwave was safe to use and was working fine. Our cleaner assured us that all the windows were wiped with a damp cloth prior to every use, and unfortunately because we are in such a rural position spider webs can appear in under an hour, and flies are again occasionally frequent visitors in summer months (we have apologised in advance in the visitors information booklet, if we could extinguish all spiders and flies we would) The washing machine in the cottages description says shared laundry room and as for the parking we used to allow cars to park in the small area in front of the cottages but we had so many complaints of customers feeling they were sat in a car park that we changed the parking (which is only a polite notice only) Once again we are sorry you didn't enjoy your holiday with us and we do pride our selves on our normally very high standards.
