Really lovely property with a stunning view. We loved having the sheep walking around the garden! We did have concerns about the hot water having read a previous review however we did not have an issue with this. The kitchen is amazing and very well equipped. Such a lovely space to sit, chat and cook. We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend it.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the old lighthouse keepers cottage. The kitchen appliances worked very well, and we enjoyed sitting at the table. The downstairs bedroom was nice and the bed soft. The bedding was warm and clean and the cabin really retained its heating and the stone was really solid. Felt very secure inside as the wind and rain was really strong outside for the first two days there. The cabin could of done with a wipe down on the tables, dressers, and bunkers as these were a bit dusty/dirty, and there were some cobwebs too. There was a wee bit coal and some logs left but was wet and couldn't start a fire the first night, I was told that we would have this refilled but it wasn't, and the fireplace wasn't cleaned out of ashes either, despite this we left some for the next person anyways. The sky box didn't work while we were there so we contacted the owners, they were very nice and tried to help us out with this but being there on the weekend couldn't send someone till Monday which was the day we left, but the owners kept in contact with us to let us know what they were doing to try and get this fixed. Watching tv was not our main concern on this beautiful island but there was a game we wanted to watch on Sunday and was unable to, we listened to the game on the radio in the kitchen and that was nice, the radio worked very well. They had some movies on DVDs to watch so we did this at night, but next time we go I think I'll take some along too as I don't think the connections very good on isle of Skye. I know when I read the reviews that some people were saying that it could benefit from another bathroom, but one bathroom was fine, the water tank could of been bigger as we ran out of hot water ALOT and there's no shower, just a detachable shower head for the bath, my mom being older couldn't step into the bathtub alone so needed help, the hot water tank can fill the bath tub up once then takes about half a day to reheat so just bear that in mind when scheduling everyone's bath. My family and I go up to Isle of Skye at least once a year and always enjoy our time up there no matter what the weather, and we will be back. I would stay at this cabin again.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your many lovely words about our beautiful cottage (cabin) and taking the time to put a review up for the Old Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage. I am so glad you and your large party of adults enjoyed your 2 day holiday with us and are looking forward to coming to us again. As it says in the promotional literature it is a traditional croft cottage with thick walls built against the elements. A small amount of coal and wood is left as a starter for the next holiday maker – which is what you found. Not sure why it was wet! I am so pleased you made use of the large library of DVDs to while away the time when you had trouble making the Sky box work. Our traditional cottage does indeed have one bathroom and no shower. The water tank is very large and it is heated along with the radiators five times a day by Scottish Hydro – a green energy company. If you had mentioned previously that your mother needed help with getting in and out of the bath, I would have suggested maybe booking one of the many modern holiday houses nearby that would have had more bathrooms and a shower. Our large Victorian slipper bath is perhaps not suitable for someone older. Although I am nearly 70 and have not experienced a problem with it. We do ask all our holiday makers to clear away after themselves and leave things as they found them. The dustbins are located at the end of the track near to the road.

A lovely cottage in a really pretty location. The cottage could benefit from an additional or separate toilet. However the kitchen was really well stocked and the house cosy and very well presented.
