Just superb. Clean, comfortable and amazingly well equipped - the best we have stayed in by far. Good proximity to road links to all of the lakes, and if you want to leave the car behind for a day, just 10 mins walk from both Bowness and Windermere for shops and food etc. Highly highly recommended.

In a quiet spot on the hillside, Garthmere has nice views from the sunny lounge. The apartment is very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

We have stayed at these premises many times before - this time it was my parents first visit to High Mere upstairs & they loved it - we stayed @ Garth Mere with my wife & mother in law, our 2nd time, and thoroughly enjoyed it too. Already booked High Mere for next March.

Garthmere cottage was more spacious than expected and provided a lovely base for visiting Bowness and Windermere. It was advertised as having wifi, however, this did not work at all despite numerous attempts to resolve the problem, which was disappointing. The rest of the cottage was well equipped. Like other reviewers we found the cottage to be dusty in places and in need of some repair, but the key areas such as bedding, towels, and kitchen were clean. Overall, we would be happy to stay their again.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Garthmere; it is a lovely, well-equipped and comfortable apartment set in an excellent location for exploring the area as well as having good views of the nearby hills from the front windows. The beds are so comfy and the shower is one of the best we have used! Only niggle was that the previous guests had not remembered to take out their rubbish/waste or had recycled incorrectly. Scafell Pike, the Old Man of Coniston and Tarn Hows are nearby. We also enjoyed the lake cruises and visiting The Pencil Museum! Windermere centre/Lakelands and Bowness are short walking distances away. We will definitely recommend Garthmere and hope to return one day.

Great location and perfect size for our family (2 adults and 3 small children). Local shops are lovely and only 10mins walk away. The Lake is about 20mins walk. Parking is at the side of the cottage with easy access to the front door. My children especially enjoyed the sun room and we loved having a separate bathroom from them :). We've stayed at many cottages around the country and have always received a lovely warm welcome from the owners. Because this is managed by a company, we did not get that "personal welcome card" or bottle of wine on arrival, although there was fresh milk in the fridge. Also, the ensuite does need refreshing, especially the towel rail. Bedding for the extra pillows, duvets and travel cot would be helpful (but a lovely lady did bring some over when requested). Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent accommodation of a very high standard, which is why we booked it and were not disappointed. Well-equipped, spacious, super facilities. Lovely furnishings, bed linen etc However, it does need an interior coat of paint on doors, woodwork, paintwork etc. ALL need to be wiped down. Dust on skirting boards. Internal doors had fingermarks on,. Possibly cleaning agency not doing their job fully. Noticed damp, musty smell in corner of main bedroom between bed and wardrobe. This is not a criticism but an observation and needs attention. This is not to say it was not clean, it certainly was, but paintwork needs refreshing

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We have been making the necessary arrangements to have our property redecorated at quieter time of the season. I'm sorry the cleaning hasn't been up to standard and we will inform our management team of your comments.

Second time we have stayed here. Absolutely love it. Issue with the extractor fans in bathrooms not working. One quick phone call & all sorted by the time we returned from our afternoon out. Only one almost negligible niggle. The dishwasher could do with having a freshener put in. Smells a bit stale. That is the only thing negative I can come up with! Hope to return again one day.

A comfortable, spacious apartment in an excellent location. The private garden with lovely views is a big bonus in good weather. Our favourite self-catering place in this part of the Lakes.

Very comfortable and clean accommodation with almost everything you could want. It could be improved with more lamps in the lounge and dining room for ambient lighting rather than bright wall lights and overhead lighting, also some small side tables in the lounge would be lovely. These additions would tempt me to give the full 10 which I have not awarded for any property. It's home from home and we didn't want to leave. The walking is terrific a cracking holiday.
