We had a great holiday at the Old Dairy Barn. It was good to look out at the sheep and the wind farm every day - fantastic views! Much has been made of the rutted track in other reviews - it had to be navigated with care but my little old Fiat heavily laden with two adults, three children and huge roof box managed it OK albeit in 1st gear. The cottage is brilliant for a family. With three girls the three bathrooms were a great asset, although the shower in the ensuite for the largest bedroom isn't very powerful. The big doors to the front and back gardens give a sense of space and freedom and there is so much room to play outside that it is worth bringing lots of 'outside stuff' to play with. We were all very comfortable though an insect spray would be handy as there are quite a few wasps and flies around. No-one was stung, however! There is loads to see and do in the area without having to travel far. In Rye itself it's worth climbing the church tower and if you are lucky you might see a happy couple emerging from the old town hall, preceded by the Rye town crier proclaiming that they have just got married! It's a local tradition that they then walk slowly down the street behind the town crier ringing his bell while crowds of wedding guests and onlookers (such a holiday makers like ourselves) tag along cheering, which is great fun. The Rye Harbour nature reserve is a lovely place to walk and Camber Sands is great for a day at the beach. (If you park in a local field it is only £5 for the day as opposed to £10 in the beach car park). All in all a great place for a holiday and as we were lucky to have sunshine every day it was a perfect week.

Great venue, fabulous views and the barn is really well set out and equipped. The bedrooms and bathroom are all of a high quality. Be careful on the lane as very bumpy. Thank you for a fab place to stay we would recommend it and return

We enjoyed very much our stay at the Old Dairy Barn. The house was very comfortable and there was plenty of room for the six of us. Our children really did appreciate having their own bathroom. Coming from France, we were very charmed by Rye and its surroundings. We would love to come back !

Great property and very clean. We had a great time and my only negative is that because of a lack of pathway we had to drive a little way before we could walk when going out - not really something the cottage owners could change though. We would definitely look at going back here - we were 2 adults and 3 young children.

Lovely place but we especially booked because it was all on one level which would indicate that people with walking difficulties or problems with stairs might find this a comfortable property. For someone who walks with a frame this was extremely difficult as there is a step at either door. A ramp - even a portable one - would have been extremely useful either at the front door or the french doors. Nice idea to have en suite for each bedroom but there is no separate bathroom so if you are up earlier or later than other people in your party you have to disturb them using the shower / toilet by going back into the bedroom.

This is a lovely barn conversion with good facilities and many thoughtful touches. My only negative point is the state of the lane leading up to it. My car is low and caught underneath on the high ridge down the centre of the lane. It is difficult to avoid the high bumps but to be fair there is a warning from the owners before you go. Despite this it was our second visit and would not be enough to put us off going again.

We enjoyed our weekend - 5 for location takes into consideration the steep, very uneven, rough track leading up to the cottage - if we had traveled in our other vehicle we would have grounded and caused serious damage. This track should be mentioned in the cottage specification, so people are aware before they book this property. Steepness is not the problem, it is the state of the track itself.

Beautiful place to stay. Like a home from home. Very clean and extremely well equipped property. The owners have really thought of eveything. We had a very comfortable stay at the Old Dairy Barn. It exceeded our expectations. The location is fantastic, so peaceful but also within a 5 minute drive of Rye and lots of attractions within an hours drive max. Would highly recommend.

We loved the accommodation and position and had wonderful views. Very near to Rye. The only negatives were the track which was very difficult in places but we did know about that before we went. The saucepans need replacing and the beds had dust under them. Overall we loved the property and those negatives would not put us off booking the barn again.
