The cottage was lovely very clean and welcoming. Only thing you need to be careful of is the toilet on the bend of the spiral staircase. To me the door should open the other way to avoid a potential hazard on the stairs. Also a small amount of logs and firelighters to at least have a fire on the first night would be a nice gesture as nothing is supplied.

Beautiful house! Full of character, though my husband left half an inch taller, due to the multiple bumps on his head against the low doors :-) Heated kitchen and bathroom floors. Very warm house (in February). Beautiful views over an unspoiled countryside from the bedrooms windows. The children loved the house too! Well equipped, with AGA cooker, very clean. Thank you.

Our second visit to the cottage over new year and it was another super week. The garden is really secure for the dogs with walks on the doorstep. Our only comment about the cottage is the sofa bed in the lounge really isn’t big enough for 2 people. I would definitely recommend this cottage and I expect we will book it again in the future 👍

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, we are pleased you had another super week at Oddwell and you would definitely recommend the cottage. As the sofa bed is rather small, we have decided to reduce the cottage occupancy from Sleeps 7 to Sleeps 6 to ensure guests are comfortable. We apologise if this caused you any inconvenience.

We have spent a Christmas here before, but this time was even more magical, we took our son, daughter in law, and 4yr old granddaughter, and we all had the most amazing time

Lovely cosy cottage, Ralph Brompton shop very small and limited you need cash as they don’t take card. Need the car to travel anywhere. But overall a lovely chilled out cosy cottage.

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your comments, we are very pleased you enjoyed the cottage. The village shop is very traditional, just stocking the essentials, and is run by volunteers otherwise it would have closed down years ago. For information, there are many shops in Wiveliscombe, 4 miles away, including a Co-op which opens from 7am to 10pm 7 days a week.

Good holiday, enjoyed the Aga, it kept everywhere nice & cosy. Unfortunately for us we found the location a bit too remote as we had to travel long distances to get to our walks each day. Really liked the enclosed garden which was perfect for our 3 dogs.

Nice cottage keeping in character Loved the arga great to cook on Was not so keen on the narrow lanes but after a couple of days you get used to it. Some lovey places to vist And some great beaches between 30 mins to an hour away Would definitely go back thumbs up

Oddwell cottage was very nice but no views from inside the cottage. The rear garden was secure for our dogs and very picturesque but due to inadequate screening you felt overlooked by the caretaker next door. Please take essential provisions for a couple of days ,cottage is remote from shops. Have stayed in many cottages and the only one that did not provide a welcome pack. A pint of milk at least would have been appreciated, luckily, as a seasoned cottager we came prepared. The toilet on the half landing is precarious when sleepy! and light sleepers note the upstairs floorboards are very very creaky .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, we are pleased you liked the cottage and the garden. The cottage is in an elevated position with far reaching views from the garden and bedroom windows but not from the ground floor windows. We have recently replaced the screening between Oddwell and the caretakers cottage but in response to your concerns we will improve this further. As a minimum, fresh milk is provided for each guest and left in the fridge well as coffee and tea. The cottage is in a rural area but the local town, only 4 miles away, has a supermarket open from 7am to 10pm daily, including Sundays. Owing to the age of the cottage, though fully modernised, there is a great deal of character to be found and often enjoyed in low ceilings, winding stairway, adapted facilities and creaky floorboards.

A beautiful cottage with amazing surroundings. My children and dogs thoroughly enjoyed the cottage, enclosed garden and surrounding area. We would definitely book again it's a real gem, and Somerset is the most beautiful county.
