A very nice cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location, The owners were very friendly and helpful if required. The guinea fowl which marched about frequently were very entertaining. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The location of the cottage s idyllic and it is so quiet apart from the birds and guinea fowl. The only downside which it is impossible to change is the narrow lanes to the cottage. The fact that there is no lighting and few passing points is a concern. This could be improved in part if the council cut back the thorny hedges on both sides. This would give another couple of feet passing space. The owners of the cottage are present but not intrusive. They provided a lovely cream tea with jam and scones on our arrival. We were out one afternoon having left washing on the line as the weather was good and unfortunately on our way back to the cottage it started to rain. Instead of being greeted by dripping washing on the line the owner had brought the washing in and folded it for us and left it on the worktop. She had also left a lovely container full of tomatoes from their garden. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage for anyone who loves comfort and peace and quiet.

Great cottage in great location marred only by the last 2 miles of roads which were too narrow and led to some difficulties.

This is ideally located for a restful peaceful holiday with easy trips around Devon as it's only 5 minutes off the A38. Comfortable with everything you need, plenty of space and pretty gardens. It's not the most modern cottage but that doesn't matter. The owners are friendly, the wildlife is interesting and it's ideal for lazy days with a book or film if you don't fancy a trip out.

This was our SECOND visit to Oaklands. Our hosts were very helpful. The location of the cottage is excellent for visiting the coast and exploring Dartmoor. Visiting in early June enabled us to see the fresh green countryside and the beautiful wild flowers.

We have traveled extensively in Europe and USA but we have yet to find a property which exceeds the cleanliness, comfort and maintenance of Oaklands Cottage. The hosts were unobtrusive and yet immediately available should they be needed (adjacent property). The cottage was superbly equipped with both equipment and consumables - from saucepans to shower gel!! The comfort of the cottage was enhanced by its wonderfully peaceful location. We will certainly be visiting here again.
