Description

11 bedroom, 11 bathroom holiday home nestled in its own grounds with lovely countryside views. The ideal retreat for large gatherings.

Enjoying panoramic views of hills and fells, Oakdene is a detached Victorian former mill owner’s house which has retained the splendour of a bygone age to provide a stunning holiday home with all bedrooms en-suite. Nestling in its own grounds with pond and gardens, extensive countryside views can be enjoyed from most windows. An spacious property with three living rooms and separate dining room, an open fire, two woodburners and centrally heated throughout, this is an ideal country retreat for families wishing to get together, a group of friends or for those attending art and craft courses at the Farfield Mill workshops. Situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, footpaths lead to the contrasting countryside and the Howgill Fells, or cycle the country lanes. The ‘book town’ of Sedbergh is ¾ mile and the pretty cobbled village of Dent just 5 miles; the whole of the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District are within easy driving distance. A discount will be offered at the local golf course. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Fabulous house with lots of character and room for everyone to spread out into different areas. All the bedrooms had bathrooms and only the impatient complained about cold showers (the hot water takes a while to get to some rooms). We would have liked a bit more room around the dinner table - we were 20, the maximum. As walkers we really enjoyed the surrounding area but as we got a bit wet and muddy we would have liked somewhere to put out muddy boots and wet clothing. This is the first of the many houses my group has stayed in that EVERYONE said they wanted to go back to.

We have stayed in several large houses and Oakdene is by far the best to date. It is a beautifully decorated spacious home which has everything a large group could want.

Comfortable house with everything you could possibly need for a great stay away. We felt at home as soon as we walked in. Awesome games rooms downstairs, plenty of bathrooms, well equiped kitchen, huge dining room and comfy living areas. The scenery is also magnificent.

We were a walking group of 18 people, and found the house ideal. The facilities were first class, great kitchen and equipment. Really nice en-suite rooms. Good location for walking in the Howgills, Yorkshire Dales , DentDale etc. Close to Sedbergh for all the local amenities. Owners were very helpful.
