Lovely, comfortable home with beautiful secure garden for our dog. Everything you could need was there and just wish it hadn't been heavy snow as it would have been lovely to sit in the conservatory and garden in better weather. The steep driveway to the road at the front would be tricky for those unsteady on their feet but this was not an issue for us (except in the heavy snow!). Just along the road from plenty of shops, cafes and takeaways but equally well equipped to prepare your own proper meals if you wanted too. Close to Bournemouth and Christchurch and right next to a nature reserve - perfectly located. The owners were great, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to go back in warmer weather to make the most of it!

The only thing we found difficult was the incline It was stepper then suggest. people who have mobility scooters would not be able to stay as its too difficult or impossible to get up depending on what scooter people have. My car kept slipping on the gravel as well. The cottage is fantastic other then that.

    Response from:

Response on behalf the owner; Thanks for your feedback. We do have a slight incline on the driveway and we have tarmacked the top of it, to help reduce cars slipping on the gravel. We hope you will return one day soon.

Oak Lodge was ok however as the bedroom is on the front and we had to have the windows open during the humid warm nights, the road noise unfortunately resulted in early morning wake up calls throughout our stay. Oak Lodge was comfortable but would benefit with a make over to bring it up to the standard of other properties we have stopped in over the last 3 years. The bathroom especially. Wifi was available but it appears it is shared from the owners property next door so the signal was weak and not available in all parts of Oak Lodge. However the above did not spoil our holiday, we had great weather and enjoyed visiting new places aswell as visiting some of our favourites in this great location.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments, seems you had great weather. We have now Wi-Fi installed in the property and have taken on board your comments and upgraded our standards.

Warm comfortable property, great safe secure garden for our dog. Owner who lives next door was friendly and helpful without imposing on us. On a negative note the property is on a busy straight road that is 30 miles per hour however majority of the traffic far exceed this both day and night, the bedrooms are on the front of the bungalow and due to the noise I didn't sleep well for several nights, luckily we stayed for 2 weeks and I did get used to the noise. Kitchen cupboards would benefit from decluttering and a good clean there was a lot of crockery that wasn't needed in holiday accommodation for 4 people, there was also a lot of dust due to no deep cleaning throughout. Despite these points I would book Oak Lodge again and hope the owner takes on board my comments favourably. Thank you for welcome goodies on arrival.

    Response from:

The Kitchen was well equipped and the property and beds was very clean, however the beds were uncomfortable and the front door was still very hard to open and close. The bathroom shaver point didn't work but the owner brought us an adapter. The property is advertised as having wifi but it was very often non existent! However our dogs did enjoy the garden!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for saying the kitchen is well equipped, the property and beds are clean and for giving us a 9, and your dogs enjoyed the garden. With the wifi, the codes are in the folder. It was lovely talking to you both, We hope you return soon.

The cottage was clean and warm, except the bathroom where the radiator was for some reason in a cupboard and the small conservatory where there was no heating at all. However, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable, the dining room chairs had no springs left in them, and the sofas were draped with old curtains. The front door had expanded and was difficult to open and close - this had already been flagged up in the visitors book and when I mentioned it to the owner he just said that it was because we'd had rain. The best thing about the property was that there was a 40 acre nature reserve within a 5 minute walk.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for saying the property was clean and warm, and you enjoyed the wonderful 40 acre nature reserve behind the property. Speaking to your very pleasant husband he replied everything was great. The bathroom has a Radiator in the Airing cupboard to keep extra linen warm. The conservatory faces the sun all day so it does get very hot. It uses the heating from the Lounge, the two new settees were covered in throws to protect them as you had your elderly blind dog with you and it was for the comfort of all guests as not all of them will have pets with them.
