My partner and I had a wonderful long weekend at Oak Cottage. As a last minute booking for a long planned trip to Manchester (the pet sitter let us down), we needed somewhere where we could take our two dogs - Oak Cottage was perfect. The house was beautifully presented and the furniture and bed were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, light and spacious and was a real joy to cook in as it overlooks and opens out onto the beautiful back garden. The lovely local park (just over the road) is great for walks and has the benefit of a large enclosed dog exercise area. The people in the village were exceptionally friendly and by the end of the weekend I was on a well known website looking for properties in the area! If there was one small negative about the property it was the lack of shower - but at the end of the day this cottage was built in 1753 and the owners have done a fantastic with adapting it as well as they have. The owners were also very helpful and accommodating. I would go back and stay time and time again.

I LOVED this place and so did my wife and 2 year old daughter! It has so much character! We stayed here whilst we visited Liverpool centre as wanted somewhere to stay that wasn't a hotel. This place is near 2 pubs, post office, park, playground, forest walk, food shop and has a bus stop opposite that takes you straight to the airport and city centre. We met the owners who were great. So happy and welcoming! We couldn't ask for more!

Oak Cottage was beautiful, equipped we everything we could possibly need, it was clean, cosy and comfortable. It was within distance of all the places we wished to go. It was lovely to be on such a frequent bus service route, which meant we could go out and about without driving, heaven for the driver! Village was quiet and very welcoming, cottage and owner were extra dog friendly which really helped us to have a wonderful week. Although the cottage is under the flight path for Liverpool Airport, it wasn't a problem as we had great fun watching them come into land, so don't be put off by this small inconvenience because it wasn't. We would definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful week

A real home from home cottage with a large dog friendly garden (although there are small-dog sized gaps in the hedging). The kitchen is well equipped as the (very helpful) owners used to live there, and the lounge furniture and bed are very comfortable. The only downside is the shower over bath under a sloping roof, but the house is 250 years old and listed! Yes it is on the flight path but the planes are usually an hour apart so after day one you don't notice, and the same goes for the road noise. The park opposite has a fully enclosed dog run and there is a pleasant walk down to the Mersey and back through woodland. All in all a highly recommended cottage and hope to be back soon.

Our family group were my husband and myself, daughter, 18th month old grandaughter and our dog. We throughly enjoyed our stay and was very sad to leave. It was a very comfortable, warm, charming and well equipped stay. The garden is large and charming. We were really pleased the cot was in fact a wooden cot and not a travel cot. We asked prior to our stay if a highchair was supplied and were told it wasn't. We took a portable baby chair but had a highchair been supplied, it would have been more convenient. The staircase was accessed through a door from the sitting room , a welcome safety aspect with an active toddler. Watching the aeroplanes so close through the kitchen skylight windows was interesting, initially the noise from the aircraft was slightly concerning but by day two we hardly noticed it. We have already told friends and family how lovely Oak Cottage is and would highly recommend it.

Loved our stay in Oak Cottage, a cosey place to relax. The garden was gorgeous, we spent a lot of time in there even though it was freezing as our puppy loved exploring. The noise from the traffic/aeroplanes didn't bother us at all, you stopped noticing the aeroplanes after the first few have flown over. Owners were very friendly and welcoming, giving us advice on places to go etc. We would defo go back to the cottage.

Oak Cottage is a fantastic place to stay. From the moment you walk through the door & meet the friendly owners to the time you have to leave you really feel at home. It's so good we have been 3 times now and there's not many cottages we would strive to go back to. The cottage itself has everything you would need for an enjoyable & comfortable stay and the location is superb especially if you have dogs. I don't have anything negative to say at all & will definitely be back 😀

This cottage is hard to beat for comfort and was well equipped even down to dog's bowl and biscuits. Garden was secure and off road parking perfect. Ideal location for visiting Liverpool's tourist sites and in our case family too. The village and people were very friendly with a park for walking the dogs just over the road. Lovely and warm cottage for January..we did not need to use the log fire. The spoilers to this lovely property was the noise...road traffic..airplanes..and the village hall next door.. having teenage girls running amok on the Saturday night we were there!
