Oak Lodge is a stunning holiday home with access to the shared pool, sauna and nearby attractions – you can relax or explore!

These attractive holiday barn conversions are tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Blagdon and situated just under 2 miles to the nearest beach, ideally located for a family holiday, not just in the summer but all year round. The properties have been renovated to a very good standard, with shared use of a sauna and an outdoor heated swimming pool. Blagdon House Country Cottages (ref 28149, 28150, 28151, 28152 and UKC184) can be booked together to accommodate up to 28 guests. Cherry Cottage (ref UKC184), the latest addition to the Blagdon House Country Cottages collection, stands out as a particularly special holiday accommodation. With a woodburner and a downstairs twin bedroom with a wet room close by, this semi-detached property is ideal whatever the weather, and also offers great ground floor facilities.

There are many tourist attractions in the vicinity including Agatha Christie’s summer home, Babbacombe Model Village, and the award-winning Paignton Zoo. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along the coast to Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth. Take a ferry across to visit Dartmouth with its array of shops and restaurants, take a walk around the castle and enjoy one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea. Away from the coast there are plenty of places to visit, including the picturesque town of Totnes with some fine 16th-century buildings, and once a week there is a popular market. No trip would be complete without a visit to Dartmoor to climb one of the Tors or just take in the beauty and travel across the moor to Tavistock, where you can enjoy some dramatic scenery. There are many NT properties and plenty of swimming, sailing and angling. Torquay has a lot to offer, such as the Living Coasts, where the penguins wander freely, and the theatre which has shows all year round. Visit the yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens, in addition to Kent’s Cavern where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants were found. Discover the castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways, all within easy reach with many open throughout the year. Stoke Gabriel is only 3 miles away, located on the River Dart, whilst Dartingtion is nearby, known for its crystal. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

This is a return visit to Oak Cottage. It is set in a beautiful, peaceful valley close to Paignton and a great place to stay as the cottage is warm, well appointed, spacious and light. It is an ideal base for trips to the South Devon coast and close to Totnes and Dartmoor. The landlords live on site and are thoughtful and friendly hosts who understand hospitality well and yet are never intrusive. I can recommend the cottage highly as a place to stay for an enjoyable break in South Devon.

Turned up and found that work was being carried out on owner house so had to put up with noise. We were not notified of this prior to visit. Place isn't suitable for children no where for them to play safely ie no place to even kick a ball about. Cooker wasn't working. Property wasn't aired so this lead to a smell which soon went after a couple of hour after us airing it.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to hear that you have had reason to complain about your stay at Blagdon House. We are surprised that you were disturbed by noise during your stay. We were having work carried out finishing the renovation of our new holiday cottage, Cherry Cottage. They were only present on one morning of your stay & were plastering, which is an very quiet activity, so we cannot understand how this was a nuisance to you. We are mindful that peace & quiet is most important to our guests & ensure any work of this nature does not disturb. We are sorry the cottage seemed not to have been aired prior to your visit. We do, normally, as routine, leave the windows open slightly, so apologies if this was not done on this occasion. Regarding outside space, each cottage has it's own courtyard garden. There is also a communal area between the cottages and the swimming pool where parents and children can and very often do safely play ball games. Also we have a very large terrace around the pool where our guests spend a lot of time with their children. Regarding the cooker, appliances fail & we try to keep spares of everything just in case. It is our policy to carry out prompt repairs when necessary. We replaced the cooker with a working one within hours of you reporting it to be broken, Regarding the location, we are surprised this did not appeal. The majority of our guests love the fact that we are in a quiet, peaceful & secluded rural valley yet only a few minutes drive from the beaches & amenities. We do hope you will return to Blagdon House for another holiday, as most people have an extremely agreeable stay here, and we would like you to experience that as well.
