When we eventually found it (!) with the help of the lady at the nearby farm (who was clearly very used to being a 'signpost') Oak Barn was very nice and mostly well-appointed BUT .... The directions for getting there were incomplete and inaccurate to say the least. A sign on the lane pointing to the Barns would be helpful and some mention of using the same entrance as the Vineyard but going straight between Vineyard and Orchard. There were two things that made the accommodation unsuitable for us: We are elderly (70 and 80) and the bare wood staircase with one handrail for most of it and none for part of it was very hazardous. I booked the cottage because it had a room with two single beds. However only one of them was made up and there was no spare bedding so we had to share the double. Very uncomfortable as my husband has Parkinson's Disease with bad dreams and uncontrollable movements! Finally - the shower cubicle doors need replacing as they don't close properly; I had to buy a draining rack for the kitchen sink draining board as it was so slippery (you're welcome!) I'm amazed nothing got broken; a delicate item I put through the washing machine was ruined by having a great many threads pulled in it. So, it was far from the best holiday accommodation we have ever had.

Oak Barn is a clean, cosy and well equipped holiday property situated in a very peaceful location. It is only 4 miles from Padstow with its shops, cafes and pubs, there is also a supermarket on the outskirts (Tesco) so you wont need to bring a car full of supplies to last you the week. Padstow can be very crowded at times, so try nearby Port Isaac, a pretty village and great views from the coastal path. It's best to plan your day carefully as car parking is expensive, parking for longer than 4 hours in most public car parks will cost £6 a time.

Very modern and well presented property. Nice quite location but within easy reach of coast and town.

Although the barn was bright and airy there were quite a few points to bring to your attention, the barn needs freshening up as it tired and the main bedroom mattress is in need of replacement and an awful smell of damp and urine from the ensuite, shower cubicle needs work . Furniture Miss- matched and sofas really worn. The oven I couldn't use as smelly and dirty. The bathroom had carpet and had urine stains around the toilet base area (we didn't use it). I had to clean the dishwasher and bleach sinks etc. The neighbours very unfriendly and we're watching eveytime we left or if in the garden area ! I have holidayed in Cornwall from childhood as I love the place but it is becoming apparent that it's so hat to find clean Accomadatio !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We stayed in the property ourselves early August 2017. We put a new cover on the fabric sofa but were disappointed to find that the relatively new leather sofas were showing minor signs of wear and tear. We did not think that two identical brown leather sofas and a floral sofa seemed to be a mis-match. At the time we did not notice any of the other problems. We have since been in touch with the cleaner who advises that although she has not been aware of any smell of damp or urine in the en-suite she had noticed that the isolator switches for the extract fan had been turned off. If the fans were not working this could be a contributing factor to any mustyness. She did however say that she was aware of a urine stain in the separate bathroom. This is the first time we have been made aware of this and we have decided to change the flooring in this bathroom to a vinyl. The cleaner is now aware of the comments regarding cleanliness and again, whilst we were not aware of the issues when we visited we have asked her to take note of the comments made. We are visiting again ourselves during October and will take a good look at all of the issues mentioned. It is our intention to redecorate the interior during the off season as a follow up to the exterior decoration undertaken earlier this year.

Second stay at this cottage. Love the location and property, however it's starting to look a little tired, dated and cleaning could be improved.

We enjoyed the space and equipment Oak Barn provided. It is well located for journeys to beaches and places of interest. Unfortunately we found the twin room smelt damp/musty. As a result our daughter put her clothes in the main bedroom and slept near the window. The en-suite shower room had not been thoroughly cleaned. The floor was dusty and hair had accumulated near the toilet. The shower screen mechanism was 'tired', which made closing them a challenge.

Stayed here last year and decided to return this year as soon lovely. Extremely quiet location but minutes from the main road and 10-15 minutes from Padstow harbour. The open plan living is great and the twin room is spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped.
