This cottage is situated within the South Downs National Park on a working farm, close to the village of Buriton.

Situated within the South Downs National Park and close to the market town of Petersfield, this well presented, spacious holiday annex (originally single storey outer farm buildings) has been sympathetically modernised whilst retaining its original 18th century character and as such the upstairs is located in the roof space with slopiing ceiling and beams. It is attached to the owner’s farmhouse on a working arable and sheep farm close to the picturesque village of Buriton. Ideally placed for visiting Jane Austen’s house at Chawton, the Watercress Steam Railway, South Downs Way, Winchester Portsmouth and beaches at Hayling Island and the The Witterings. Shop and pubs 11/2 miles.

Ground floor: Living room with tiled floor/dining room/kitchen. Second living room with sofa bed and patio doors. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Beams and sloping ceilings throughout.

Woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. Video. DVD. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Enclosed patio and furniture. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.

Superbly spacious and comfortable downstairs, and well equipped, however because of the dimensions of the building the bedroom is small and low ceilinged and the bathroom particularly cramped. As long as you are aware of this and can put up with it, then enjoy the living accommodation to the full. Lovely east-facing patio but nowhere to get any sun from mid afternoon or evening.

What a beautiful place. Extremely well equipped. I would stay again without hesitation, if we were to visit the area again. Not recommended for tall people - but we're all shortish so it didn't matter to us!

The place and the house were perfect but the lack of contact and communication with the owners was really disapointing. We had a problem with the wifi and nobody tried to help us. Nothing to say about the property which was really nice and clean but the owners weren't really welcoming.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. We live immediately next door to the annexe and we are always available to welcome guests personally however on this occasion, we saw the guests very little as they kept completely different hours to ourselves. During check in, we show people around, explain how things work and advise if there are any problems to please knock on the door. The guests, who were over from France visiting relatives, did not speak English and communication was very difficult. We do respect people’s privacy and whilst we try to be as unobtrusive as possible, we are always on hand to assist guests when needs be. We do not market the annexe as having Wi-Fi. It is available in this area but due to the age of the house, thickness of the walls and being in a rural location it only works in certain rooms and it is up to the individual to have their own password to access the system. Many people who have stayed in the annexe have used it successfully. Unfortunately, due to the language barrier, I was unable to obviously explain this to these guests. Overall, we were most disappointed to read that we were unhelpful and unwelcoming. We feel we provided a very helpful service; allowing an earlier than usual arrival time after a long journey and a private viewing of the annexe by the English relatives 6 weeks prior to the French parties arrival. However, we are pleased that the guests enjoyed their time in the property and found it to be clean, cleanliness is something we take great pride in.

Just returned from a lovely week in Hampshire . The property & owners were lovely & everything you could think of was in the property. It was very warm & nice to see a farm in action. The slight problem was the hot water which was cold after one bath . We knew there were problems which are beyond the owners control & it is only a week after all. There are always ways round problems. My husband & I would stay there again.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. The hot water is from an oil fired combi-boiler that heats on demand. It is serviced annually. There may have been a temporary pressure drop in the water system causing the hot water to cut out for safety reasons. Had we been notified of the issue at the time we would have then been in a position to rectify the problem. We are glad that you enjoyed your week’s holiday and hope to see you at the Annexe again soon!
