Description

Set on the main Heritage Coastal Route with views to the coast, this charming holiday home will delight all ages.

"Set in a bay, once voted the most romantic in England...and just minutes from attractions to delight all ages"

Situated on the Northumberland Coastal Route with its stunning coastline of dunes and beaches, and boasting magnificent views of Dunstanburgh Castle, lies North Farm Cottages. These charming holiday homes will delight all ages. Once the heart of the farm, these stone built cottages have been expertly created in the former granaries, workshops, barns and byres of the steading, with great attention to detail by the caring owners, to offer a holiday experience to remember.
Located on the edge of Embleton village, close to the popular villages of Craster, renowned for its smoked kippers, Beadnell with its water sports, and Newton-by-the-Sea with its National Trust beach. The town of Alnwick is only 7 miles away, with its majestic castle (used in Harry Potter films), the enchanting Alnwick Gardens, playhouse, cobbled streets, inns and restaurants. Dunstanburgh Castle in nearby Craster, makes a lovely scenic walk along the cliff top, reached only by foot. Seahouses, known for its fine fish and chips and small working harbour, is always a visitor’s favourite. Holy Island is not to be missed, but remember to check the tides times, or take a relaxing boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins or seals.
Embleton village has a friendly pub, restaurant, garage, post office and local shop, a well-equipped children’s park and magnificent sandy bay. A beach hut is also available to hire in Newton-by-the-Sea, a National Trust beach, by arrangement with the owners. There is a privately mown path to the beach at Newton-by-the-Sea and to the village of Embleton across the owner’s land. There is also a play park, duck pond and activities such as a mini beast mansion to keep the children occupied on their way to the beach, including a picnic area with breathtaking views of Dunstanburgh Castle and a WWII pillbox. Shop, pub and restaurant 3/4 mile.

Living/dining room with oak floor and kitchen area. Two double bedrooms, one with 5ft bed. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Twin bedroom. Bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet.

We had sunny, warm, calm weather which was wonderful. Not what we expected when facing the north sea! The cottage excelled our expectations both for cleanliness and location. My husband is disabled and by using the back door, he was happy and comfortable. He only needed to go upstairs for a shower. We particularly enjoyed being able to push a pram into Embleton and down to the beach via a nicely mowed path. The views of an early morning sun rise were spectacular. Our holiday was 2 weeks before Easter and we expected the area to be deserted but we were unable to park at Holy Island, Craster, Low Newton and Rothbury. I would recommend arriving before March 31st!
