Description

Set on the edge of the picturesque village of Rode, this holiday property enjoys fantastic views within its own beautiful grounds.

Merfield cottages and coach houses are set within the grounds of the owners’ elegant early Georgian Grade II listed country house. Noad (14404) is a coach house that faces on to the walled garden, whilst Taffy (17851), a former farm building, is adjacent to the tennis court. The walled garden boasts topiary, rose arbours, herbaceous borders and a lawned orchard area all of which was designed by a Chelsea flower show gold medalist. The outstanding gardens, with secluded seating areas, including the tennis court, are available for the use of guests. The whole complex is situated within 36 acres of agricultural land dropping down to the River Frome, with far reaching views towards the Mendip Hills. Golf, 3 miles. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Ground floor: Steep step to living room. Kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Shower room with toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Fridge/freezer. Shared garden and furniture. Parking. Shared tennis court. No smoking. Couples and family bookings only.

We had a lovely week at Noah Coach House. The accommodation was very comfortable with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. The gardens are beautiful and I think if we return to Noad we would make it in summer so that we could make best use of them. A short walk took us to the village where the local pub, the Cross Keys, served delicious food. The local area provided lots to see and do. Our favourites were Frome, Bradford-on-Avon and, of course, Bath.

Nice Cottage. Downstairs quite small, upstairs generous size of bedrooms. Tennis Court was nice to have with the kids. Lack of Wi-Fi was annoying as tend to look things up as we go along whilst away of what to do the following day so hampered ability to do this.

The house was lovely. Comfortable and spacious. Bedrooms are large, airy and light, as are the bathrooms. There is a lack of cosiness in the living room, as it can be quite dark, so better lighting and comfy sofa would be a good addition. Downstairs in general feels less spacious.

We were happy overall with the cottage but not happy with the cleaning as we stayed there for 3 weeks we expected weekly cleaning, but no cleaning or change of linen happened after week 1 and we had to ask for new bed linen and towels. We also asked for a full clean after week 2 but this was minimal to say the least. As we were paying the full rate we thought this was poor. If we had not so much else to contend with at home (our house was undergoing major refurbishment and we work fulltime) we would have complained earlier but didn't have the energy to. This was meant to be our escape from the hassle so we didn't think we should have to clean the cottage as we were paying for it.
