Enjoyed our time at Claxton cottages, the pool was fab and so was the games room and tennis court. Lots of places to visit . We visited York lots and used the great park and ride . Scarborough also had a great bus service so parking wasn't an issue.

Myself and my wife went to your accommodation with our daughter, her husband, and their two children aged 8 and 3. We were very comfortable in our cottage, both relaxing in the evening or when cooking. We enjoyed watching some DVDs in the evening which we took ourselves, but we brought our own DVD player because in your advertising there was no mention of a DVD being provided for our use. Pluses, the pool was a big hit with the kids. The 3 year old enjoyed the "playground" but it was vert basic. The recreation room was okay, but again, very basic, and usually occupied. The outdoor space was lovely, well maintained and tidy, but my grandson's leg fell down a hole in the lawn when he was running about. Luckilly he wasn't injured. Minuses, the laundry room needed more machines and was very basic and needed modernisation. My wife and daughter would have enjoyed having a hair-dryer and a clothes maiden to help dry the laundry in the cottage, would not have been amiss. The driveway to the main road in places resembled a tank-trap. A few benches for ageing adults near an improved playground would be welcomed by many guests in the future.

Great location, however... dirty accommodation, facilities on site in need of serious upgrade. Visible pest control devices in what is billed as a family friendly place. Such a shame as it really wouldn't take much to turn this place around.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I am very sorry that you were not fully satisfied with your accommodation, we state within our guest manual, if there are any concerns during your stay, please use one of the many contact number so your concerns can be addressed. Had we been notified that you were not fully satisfied with the accommodation, we would have actioned this and rectified the problem by way of arranging for the domestic team to re-clean the cottage or alternatively transfer you to another property. We are approaching the end of Peak Season of which the cottages and facilities will undergo redecoration, we are unable to carry this out in peak season due to the small turn around between guests leaving and arriving. This is something we can now action and we have a team of decorators already commenced re-decoration on cottages which are unoccupied. With regards to the pest control devices, these are preventative devices due to the rural location. There are lots of acres of open grass land and trees surrounding the site of which although very picturesque! can also attract unwanted pests. The devices are to prevent unwanted pests and we try to situate these out of view where possible.
