Lovely cosy and inviting cottage in a brilliant location close to all the amenities and numerous nice pubs. It's worth noting that there seems to be a strict rule of not leaving dogs unattended in the cottage, which we were not made aware of before we booked. Our elderly dog found it stressful being dragged around everywhere we went.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location with all amenities close by. Only downside was that hob and grill very slow - perhaps a little dated. However, did not detract from a most enjoyable birthday weekend. Many thanks.

This was our second visit to the cottage and we couldn't wait to spend new year with our family there. However this visit it was clear that the restrictions on the cottage and having our dogs there was unreasonable and impractical! Also the neighbour made us feel very uncomfortable during our week away and other reasons that I can't put on this section, so we won't be booking through cottages for you again. It's such a shame as the cottage is lovely! Really more suitable for people without dogs and make sure you don't make any noise at all !

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner: I was very sorry to learn from your entry that your return stay at our cottage was not as successful as you had hoped it would be. As a dog owner myself, I know I would not welcome any unusually stringent conditions in respect of dogs staying in the property. However, like other cottage owners (and as a courtesy to those holidaymakers who will use the cottage in future), all we ask is that owners clean up after pets, that their dogs are not allowed to sit on the beds or furniture and that they are not left unattended in the property for long periods (when they will be likely to bark and cause nuisance to our neighbours). As you kindly say, the cottage is lovely and the purpose of having these rules is to keep it that way. I do not know the circumstances of your encounter with the neighbour though I am sure you did your best to resolve the issue and that you appreciate the need to exercise respect for those who live permanently in the village.

Nice cottage but unfortunately a bit 'out of the way' as Ambleside is further than you might expect. Also not very dog friendly- lots of rules that were very sternly applied made it quite impractical.
