Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Description

A small family will enjoy this superbly equipped, pet friendly property, ideal for discovering Cornwall and Devon.

Netherbridge Farm is a cluster of beautiful stone barns (refs W43405, W43406 and W43407) converted into simply stunning holiday homes. The properties are superbly equipped with bright, light contemporary interior decor and furnishings, and are set in 7 acres of private lawned grounds with two pretty lakes stocked with carp, and a paddock where sheep graze alongside the lakes. Netherbridge was formerly a working farm, now totally redeveloped and landscaped; located just off the A388 on the outskirts of Launceston, making this is a superb location for exploring both Cornwall and Devon, being so close to the River Tamar which forms the border between the two counties. The properties are ideal for couples, families with children or groups of friends to come and relax in tranquil surroundings. For a larger family, two or more cottages may be booked together to enjoy a holiday as a group and there is plenty of space here for all. The properties are open all year round and offer short breaks, so whether it’s for a summer week in Cornwall or a short break when it’s quieter in the autumn and winter, there is always a home from home on offer here. Launceston, or Lansun as the Cornish pronounce it, is an historic town, with the ruins of a Norman castle, built around 1070 AD, perched high up on a hill. There is a good shopping area for essential items, and lots to do in and around the area for all ages. Visit the castle, take a trip on a steam train at Launceston Steam Railway, see otters playing and learn about nature at the Tamar Otter Park, step back in history at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, enjoy a round at Trethorne Golf Club or explore The Tamar Trail. There are some fabulous beaches along the north Cornwall coastline, and the Atlantic coast ranges from gorgeous sandy beaches, ideal for young children, to surf beaches for the more adventurous. Enjoy stunning coastal vistas of dramatic cliffs, and hidden coves and picturesque harbours can also be admired. One such harbour is Port Issac where the TV series ‘Doc Martin’ is filmed. Another favourite is Tintagel, steeped in the mystery of kings and dragons. Bude is a family favourite, and Crackington Haven is popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. High up on Bodmin Moor, just south of Launceston, is the famous Jamaica Inn - the smugglers’ inn, written about by the author Daphne du Maurier. Nearer home and just down the road from Netherbridge Farm is Homeleigh Garden Centre, a fabulous place to visit which is stocked with beautiful plants. Not just a garden centre, it has much more on offer, including a large restaurant, pet area, gifts and kitchenware, clothing, ponds and garden ornaments, and a large farm shop selling a great selection of local produce. You can stop off before you leave and stock up on some Cornish plants or foods to take back home as a memento of your holiday here in truly glorious Cornwall. Alternative properties at this site are refs: 29861, 29862, 29863, 29864, 29865 and 29866. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 2 miles.

Dishwasher tablet holder cover missing. Multiple chips to glasses and crockery. Latches on doors in master bedroom main door and ensuite get stuck. We were stuck in bathroom 3 times and main bed room twice and had to be let out from the outside. Kitchen equipment inadequate. No bin bags under the sink as stated in printed information. Information states that to use black bin bags in bins outside individual cottage and recycle in green bin but when we went to green bin to recycle it states " black bags only" . Parking inadequate. Clothes airer too small. Not enough space to dry clothes as there is no tumble dryer. Maybe organise a couple of washing lines. Shower floor in ensuite very slippery when wet. Two of us slipped over. Maybe consider a rubber shower mat. No wardrobe space in second bedroom. No drawer space in master bedroom except what was under the wardrobe. Obvious that a bedroom set was purchased and split between the two rooms. For four adults this is not adequate. Overall whilst aesthetically pleasing from the outside, and in first glance inside all appears well this is not suitable for longer than a two night stay. Comments will be posted in trip adviser etc. Very disappointing.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for taking the time to review Fox Barn. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay and we will be looking into the issues you have mentioned. However many of the issues you have raised I feel are inaccurate and could be misleading to other guests coming to stay. There is over and 1 acre of car parking area for visitors although I do appreciate that there is only space for 1 car directly outside Fox barn but the main car park can be located approximately 50 meters away. There is also a tumble dryer based in the 'shared space' that every guest can access. I've taken on board you other points and these will be considered and dealt with as necessary. I hope this doesn't put you off staying again as most of the bookings we receive are repeat visitors.

Me and my partner and our beagle stayed in fox barn for 3 nights for a short break. It was lovely nice and tidy and had all we needed. It was lovely that they provided milk, washing up liquid, sponges and t-towel, thought that was a lovely touch. The surrounding area was beautiful, lovely and quite and the stars at night are stunning. Easy drive to most areas lots of places only 30minutes drive away. We will definitely be back and we will stay for longer next time as it is such a lovely place. Highly recommended.

Fridge was turned down to level 2 setting so was warm inside and the milk provided had curdled and gone off- had to throw away. Kitchen equipment was basic e.g no egg cups for boiled eggs, breakfast bowls were very small. These are minor issues but overall we were very happy and had a lovely stay- we would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely property, in a complex of about 10. It's been sympathetically converted, is well equipped and has lovely vaulted ceilings upstairs. It is the forth cottage I've rented in Cornwall this year and I would stay there again. It's only drawback is the 1hr drive to our favourite beaches, around Padstow.

Ideal location if you want to go to both sides of Cornwall, we visited Tintagel, Polzearh, Rock, Daymar Bay, Padstow, Bude & Looe, they were all within an hours travelling. Barn was well equipped and very comfortable. We had a great week and would definitely book again.
