FOR great place to go if you enjoy isolation.silver birches is spacious. plenty of good walks and abundance of fresh air and totally silent. AGAINST 10 miles from nearest 2 carriage highway with huge gradients, blind corners, not a drivers paradise. Owners stingy on heating, felt cold most of the time. parking is tight.this is one place that you definitely need a 4X4

This is a lovely cottage in a remote location but you need to be prepared for a lack of local amenities and also a drive down some narrow and very steep roads to get to the cottage and to get anywhere. That said, it is an idyllic valley, very quiet and a dark valley if you want to do some star gazing. The cottage is comfortable but really needs the kitchen and bathroom refurbishing and a general lick of paint. The dishwasher was also on its last legs I think. We found that if we wanted dinner at one of the local pubs, you have to book a table in advance as they all seem to get booked up very quickly.

Wonderful place in a lovely pastoral location. Lovely gardens, comfortable beds, clean. Only small complaints like carpet in bathroom and no missing faucet. We used the fireplace and laundry facilities. It's just a 20 minute drive to Whitby.

Very good stay in an exceptionally comfy warm cottage. We needed the warmth as the weather was not good! The dogs loved it though and it was great to have a substantial area for them to wander freely around in.

A beautiful large cottage in the most glorious of settings. Peaceful and restful it was just what the doctor ordered. Had everything we could've wanted and wasn't far from the sea. We felt very lucky to have chosen such a great place. Memories made and can't wait to return.
