We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the beautiful area around it. The cottage was cold, although we did arrive on one of the coldest days, once we got the log burner going it was very cosy. I do think in this day and age you shouldn’t be charged for electricity used and it should be in with the overall price. The cottage is very quaint and has everything you need in it. I’m only 5’3 and managed to bump my head several times, whereas my husband who is 6’3 didn’t! Facilities around are good and some lovely pubs with excellent food. We would definitely like to return, but in warmer weather.

Good fun cottage - somewhat lcking in maintenance in places (eg. lime scale restricted shower head). Nice quiet location.

We used Mulberry Cottage as extra accommodation over the Christmas period. It is a delightful cottage, very nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed! On the down side, had we needed the wood burner it would have taken an enormous amount of fuel to stock it, and using only electricity with a smart meter ticking away I fear the heating bill could have been rather heavy. Fortunately the weather was very mild and we only used the cottage to sleep in, so for us it was lovely. Being "old fashioned" a small tea pot and a cafatierre or percolator to make coffee in, would have been useful

Its a sweet little cottage, more room inside than the outside might imply. Having to pay for the electricity at the end of the holiday is a bit of a worry, in cold weather, as the oil filled radiators are expensive to run. The wood burning stove is rather old and worn and if you don't discover the "damper" it roars through the wood. There are radiators that work off the wood stove. A book of instructions for the heating system would be a help, - as would a co2 alarm, a wood stove with a damper is potentially lethal! Having said all that, we enjoyed our long weekend, the cottage and the hamlet of Acton are very petty and there are great views.

The cottage is perfect for us. It is exactly what you would expect from a building of that age, low ceilings, beams, stone fire place etc but it has been modernised just enough to make it clean and comfortable, whilst maintaining it's character. The kitchen is clean and well equipped with everything you could need including a washer drier. The bathroom would benefit from having a proper shower fitted but it's not something that would put us off. The living room is small with a wood burner which we didn't use in August. The sofas are new this year and perfectly in keeping with the character of the cottage, don't expect a dfs squishy sofas 😁 The garden is lovely and again in keeping with the cottage and it's surroundings, although the climbing rose could do with a prune 😉. The gate at the bottom of the garden gives access to a larger garden that is shared with fernlea. You could literally spend the day in the garden sunbathing and bbq ing. The grass is cut on a Friday every week in the summer. The local area is stunning, Chapman's pool, studland and the square and compass are all a must. The kings arms in Langton is lovely and welcoming in a quaint old style pub kind of way. In all we love a week of homely living and beautiful views away from the rat race.

Comfortable bed and adequate kitchen. However, the cottage lacks comfort and most of the furniture is shabby. There was a distinct smell of dog when we arrived. (This cottage would suit walkers wth a dog) If you are seeking a comfortable evening indoors in the event of rain, you won't find it here. The garden also needed attention and the grass could have been cut. On the fourth day of our stay, a garden table and chairs suddenly appeared. In comparison to other cottages we have rented, this was basic, even third-rate. A shame because the location suited us perfectly.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m sorry that the customers didn’t enjoy their stay in Mulberry Cottage. I would like to point out that the cottage has a three not five star listing. One can’t help the weather which made cutting the grass on changeover day impossible. The wet weather may also have been a mitigating factor in the dog smell reported. I would take issue with the ‘shabby furniture’ as we had installed a new suite on the 26th May this year. I am confused by the comment about the garden furniture as I would assume that was an improvement. Yours from a very green and lush Dorset.

Spent a week, just me and my dogs. great location for walking. Not that far from civilisation, if you like that sort of thing. Cottage reflects it's history in that it is small and you might consider packing a hard hat (I was still head butting the ceiling on day 7) but this needs to be embraced as part of it's charm. Small garden but lovely to sit out in, in the evening with a glass or two, watching the birds. I loved it and would recommend it to like minded people.

Excellent location. Cottage comfortable enough. I hit my head twice on low doorways (we were warned!). Main problem was that the toilet only worked intermittently which was very annoying. We did inform the owner. A minimum of information provided in the cottage.
