We are awaiting the outcome of a complaint and request for a refund as we left the accommodation early. Sue and Robert are lovely and I have hated having to complain. The gite was not clean with dust and cobwebs everywhere, equipped with the very basics (and some of these were not in great condition i.e. 3 out of 6 glasses had cracks in them) and uncomfortable seating. The pool was barely warm but of more concern was the lack of regular cleaning. There was no pool hoover so a clean amounted to someone fishing out the dead animals, insects and other debris and pushing the rest of the dirt towards the filter. Whilst the owners were on site this appeared to happen on most days although the people staying in the gite next door had fished a dead mouse out of the pool on their arrival; most of the dead things fell in overnight so who knows! When the owners left the pool was not cleaned at all on a couple of days and very late in the day on another. As we paid extra to have the pool it was very disappointing that overall we had just 3 hours use. Everywhere required some TLC; the outdoor area with pool table, table tennis and BBQ is a great idea but requires a tidy up. The ivy around the rear door of the cottage was very over grown and covered in webs - we tended to go in side ways. The gite is next to a scruffy dairy farm; unfortunately cows attract flies so this was an issue. Overall a very disappointing stay. Positive things, huge TV with English channels, fre wifi, nice bar serving good lunch in village, excellent bread at boulangerie and location for those who wished to explore (not our first time in Normandy so this was not a factor when booking).

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very disappointed that you felt that your holiday in our gite was only worthy of a 2 out of 10. When you say that you left early, you left on day thirteen of a fourteen night stay. If the gite or other areas of the accommodation was not cleaned to your satisfaction then you should have told us. We did see you every day for the first week of your stay and we spoke at length most times so there was ample opportunity to do so. We would have been happy to rectify the situation had we been made aware. The temperature of the swimming pool is set on a thermostat to 25 degrees. The cleaning of the pool was attended to by our son for your second week. He saw that the outside cover had not been closed fully allowing leaves and insects to enter. It is most important for safety reasons that this cover is kept closed when not in use. It does clearly state this on the door, however as there was just you and your husband there at this time you probably thought it not important. There is always a large net left in the pool area to fish out any leaves etc. for when we are not there.

an out of the way location, well equipped, including great games room and swimming pool. Good BBQs and decent shops within easy travelling distance. Kids educated about where milk comes from at neighbouring farm. Even when it rains, there is plenty to keep you occupied
