Description

Sudeley Castle is within walking distance, while the Cotswold Way is close by, Prescott Hill Climb Course is nearby.

Set in a row, Mouse Hole Cottage is a characterful holiday property dating from the 17th Century. Located in the centre of the ancient Saxon town of Winchcombe, mid-way between Broadway and Cheltenham, it is the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds AONB. The name Winchcombe means ’valley with a bend’, and today the town still retains streets which curve gracefully along the ’combe’. The inns, restaurants, tea rooms and shops set among Winchcombe’s three main streets are full of the character of times past. Stroll through the historic market town, walk to the famous Sudeley Castle with its beautiful gardens, now one of the premier tourist attractions in the north Cotswolds, or ramble in rolling hills including the Cotswold Way. The towns of Broadway, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden are within easy reach, while Regency Cheltenham is just 8 miles. The famous racecourse at Prestbury Park is a big attraction for National Hunt fans, and the Prescott Hill climb Course holds motoring events at various times throughout the year. Shops, pubs and restaurants 400 yards.

the cottage was good but we did have a blocked sewer which meant we had to have plumbers in and we had to have no bathroom floor covering for the week. We are still waiting for an answer from you regarding this

A charming and delightful holiday home which delighted our little 3 and a half year old - especially when she found the toy mice. We'd be very happy to stay there again - and certainly hope to do so!

Great holiday, Winchcomb is a lovely place and mouse hole cottage a delight. My only criticism would be better instructions about parking.

This is a lovely comfortable cottage. The location is perfect as it is so close to all amenities with fabulous walks of a ll levels very close by. The wonderful local pubs who provide fabulous food also allow dogs, which is a real bonus.

Busy corner with roadworks outside was unfortunate. Cottage a bit on the dark side. Be better to just put parking nearby on street or local car park £1 a day as area by cottage has lots of no parking signs. Good location for dogs, nice to be able to walk to dinner. Winchcombe good base for a break.

A very cute cottage in a great location, let down by a lack of thought. Old cottages have sloping floors, thats expected, however it would have been great if the owners had taken the time to level the beds! While the king bed bedroom does have a velux window, it's in the sloping ceiling and too high to look out of, and the shelves that act as a bedside table are somewhat far back from the sides of the bed. The twin room was fine, and the double bed was also OK, though the bedhead was very wobbly and made it awkward to pull the curtains. The kitchen was absolutely functional, but only had a slimline dishwasher sitting in the right sized space for a full size one. Even with 4 people staying it was on the small side, with 6 it would be much harder to keep on top of the washing up. The fridge freezer was also on the small side considering the size of the property. The last problem was the lighting in the livingroom. Again, it's an old cottage, but one ceiling bulb and a couple of wall lights, all with heavy shades on, just wasn't enough to do the job. In the summer it may be OK, but in the winter we had to have lights on in there whenever we used it and it was still very dark. Having owned a house as old as this with similar height ceilings and small windows, it is possible to get the lighting right. It just takes some thought. The parking was fine, we managed to get an E class Merc into the garage and we parked my car on the street, although watch out for the grumpy neighbour who whinged at us for having the car out of the garage when we were loading up to go. It was obvious what we were doing, and he was on foot walking back into his property, and yet he still felt the need to complain to me. On the plus side the cottage was spotless and warm, and in a great location, and the Christmas decorations were lovely, thank you.
