A very cute cottage in a great location, let down by a lack of thought.
Old cottages have sloping floors, thats expected, however it would have been great if the owners had taken the time to level the beds! While the king bed bedroom does have a velux window, it's in the sloping ceiling and too high to look out of, and the shelves that act as a bedside table are somewhat far back from the sides of the bed.
The twin room was fine, and the double bed was also OK, though the bedhead was very wobbly and made it awkward to pull the curtains.
The kitchen was absolutely functional, but only had a slimline dishwasher sitting in the right sized space for a full size one. Even with 4 people staying it was on the small side, with 6 it would be much harder to keep on top of the washing up. The fridge freezer was also on the small side considering the size of the property.
The last problem was the lighting in the livingroom. Again, it's an old cottage, but one ceiling bulb and a couple of wall lights, all with heavy shades on, just wasn't enough to do the job. In the summer it may be OK, but in the winter we had to have lights on in there whenever we used it and it was still very dark. Having owned a house as old as this with similar height ceilings and small windows, it is possible to get the lighting right. It just takes some thought.
The parking was fine, we managed to get an E class Merc into the garage and we parked my car on the street, although watch out for the grumpy neighbour who whinged at us for having the car out of the garage when we were loading up to go. It was obvious what we were doing, and he was on foot walking back into his property, and yet he still felt the need to complain to me.
On the plus side the cottage was spotless and warm, and in a great location, and the Christmas decorations were lovely, thank you.
