Found out that garden wasn’t secure as my collie cross disappeared for an hour at 6.30am. Had to restrict her to a lead in the garden following this. I’ve no idea how she escaped, but I eventually found her near the gate of the property below. House is superb, a real home from home.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear that your dog got out. I’ve put in some additional fencing to close off some gaps. No matter what we do, I suspect a determined dog will still find a way of getting out.

This is probably the best cottage we have stayed in. It had everything you could possibly want. It was lovely and clean and the bed was comfortable. The garden was a delight, especially in the morning when deer would visit. It is located in a beautiful area of Scotland, with plenty to see and do. The area of the cottage is very peaceful and will be lovely in the summer. The weather wasn't warm but mainly dry, and we did manage to sit out in the sun a couple of afternoons. We were delighted with the welcome pack, it was a lovely touch. We would love to return and would definitely recommend it.

This was our second visit and we loved it every bit as much as our first. The house is very spacious and comfortable, and the new kitchen is great. Just the two of us and our two dogs escaping the Guy Fawkes fireworks at home, and the dogs loved the freedom of the safely enclosed garden. We all love the location- there’s good food, and good walking directly from the house, and it’s also close enough to get easy access to the A75 to explore more of the region. We'll happily return to Mountain Cross.

A great house. The furniture and decor was a little dated, but the location and gardens more than made up for it. Lots of space indoors too which meant two families could easily stay and not feel as though they were on top of each other. The local village is great, with a useful shop and a couple of pubs. Great for kids as well, as there were two play parks in walking distance.
