Lakeside, seaside, countryside, hillside...wherever you can picture your perfect cottage, you'll find it with Welcome Cottages!

Wildlife and countryside admirers will thoroughly enjoy their stay here at Morse Cottage. It’s situated in an idyllic area with beautiful views.

"In rich rolling acres of natural grounds – just a riverside walk from the beach and sea . . ."

Just a mile or so from the beach and picturesque harbour at Lyme Regis, this attractive cluster of individually owned holiday cottages enjoys a peaceful setting in an area of exceptional natural beauty. Skilfully converted from a range of lovely old stone barns, they are surrounded by acres of pastures with abundant wildlife, including deer and badgers. Fitted and furnished to comfortable standards throughout, each holiday cottage is independently owned and has its own sunny patio at the front with peaceful and uninterrupted views over a picturesque pond and the countryside beyond. A lovely riverside walk leads to historic Lyme Regis, passing through wonderful countryside with no roads to mar the views. The rolling farmland scenery is easily enjoyed via the 28-mile network of local footpaths and bridleways, including the World Heritage Dorset Coastal Path (½ mile) and its spectacular Jurassic coast.
Accessible within 4 minutes by car or via a walk over fields and along the riverbank, Lyme Regis is one of England’s most memorable small towns. It is famous as the setting for both the story and film of ’The French Lieutenant’s Woman, with its harbour bright with boats, streets of elegant colour-washed buildings, lofty cliffs and a great sweep of sea. Inns, restaurants and a choice of shops can be found amongst the town’s attractive jumble of narrow streets, and it is a notable water sports centre. Motor boats can be hired, and there are fishing trips, a sailing school and club, and a wind-surfing school. There is also a sports complex at Axminster (4 miles) which offers swimming and other facilities. For nature lovers, the area has some of the most diverse scenery in the country: Lyme Bay sweeps round from the National Nature Reserve on the Dowlands Cliffs in an uninterrupted arc along the huge bank of shingle that is Chesil Beach, all the way to the limestone slab of the Isle of Portland. The 626-ft Golden Cap, a breathtaking viewpoint and part of a lovely 2,000-acre NT estate, is the highest point on England’s south coast, a World Heritage Site. An easy drive to Bridport, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exeter and Dorchester. For families there are many lovely beaches close at hand, and a theme park (Crealy Park) near Exeter. Lyme Regis golf course is within ½ mile and visitors are welcome to use the golf course, or to visit their bar and restaurant. Each cottage has a comprehensive information folder giving details of local pubs, restaurants, shops, walks, excursions and many interesting facts about Lyme Regis and finding fossils along the Jurassic coast. Shops 1 mile.

We had a lovely break a perfect spot very quiet, I do agree with a previous comment it would be nice to have a sofa instead of separate armchairs. The bed was a bit small for us probably because we have a 6 foot one at home, and my husband banged his head a few times getting up in the night because of the slanted ceiling, maybe if the bed could move to the other side of the room (if it would work). But on the whole would highly recommend it.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Morse Cottage. It is unfortunate that that you felt the bed was small however it is a standard double and was purchased to utilise the space available in the bedroom. Thank you again for your comments and your recommendation is very much appreciated.

Lovely location. The cottage was great very clean and quite spacious for 2 people. Easy access to town but still felt very rural and quiet. Caretaker was very helpful.

Slightly expensive compared to similar properties we have rented in the past and I am sure that with a little thought something could be done about the shower, but all in all we had a fantastic week there and would return.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Since your stay in September 2015, a booster pump has been fitted (January 2016) and the shower works well. We are pleased that you would stay with us again and look forward to welcoming you back.

The cottage was lovely, in a beautiful spot and very well equipped. However the shower was unusable due to the very poor water pressure. We never have a bath and always shower so found it very difficult. We would go back if it was fixed.

Location ideal for pease and quiet, walks and very short drive into Lyme Regis. Kitchen very small but satisfactory if only easy meals are needed. The bedroom did not allow enough space to walk down the sides of bed only if you put one foot in front of the other. Bathroom was very big with window, separate hot and cold taps on basin, expensive Hi-Tec shower that delivered enough water to clean your teeth with. Lovely common garden where all could relax and play, cottage widow did not allow you to see this as it was too high and small. Not good value for money, would not go back as the shower was ridicules to put up with for one week.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed our quiet property location. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t feel the kitchen and bedroom weren’t big enough, the kitchen and bedroom sizes are clearly shown on the images we provide on the website. Our previous customers haven’t reported any issues and have thoroughly enjoyed their holiday. We apologise you had issues with the shower during your stay; this problem was not brought to our attention during your stay. If you had advised us of this we would have explained that the shower which was new earlier this year, although satisfactory is affected by the water pressure. There is also a notice in the bathroom to this effect.

Excellent accommodation. We really enjoyed our holiday. It was very easy to walk to Lyme Regis and we could get a bus back up the hill.

There was a lovely homely feel about the cottage. It was very well-equipped and well-maintained. We thought that the location was superb with its setting so close to nature. During our stay we saw a vixen and her cub in broad daylight. Such a peaceful place. we were able to fully re-charge our batteries! We knew the area and could visit and re-visit places of interest including Budleigh Salterton for a cream tea, Charmouth for fossil collecting and sight seeing after the televising of Broadchurch this winter! We walked from Lulworth Cove to the Durdle Door and had our first visit to the Donkey Sanctuary. We celebrated my husband's birthday at an Italian restaurant in Lyme Regis. Service and food was excellent.
