Excellant place to stay as a group or family. Spacious and airy. Rooms are lovely as is the enormous farmhouse kitchen table. Very tired sofas and chairs in the lounge which could do with updating. Also perhaps new cleaners are needed or a check visit before customers arrive by the owners. Some bits from previous occupiers were left which should have been removed and also the "complimentary /welcome" bottle of wine wasn't there. Owners responded immediately to a problem we reported with the hot water and was sorted within an hour. Overall a great weekend had by all. Fab value for money.

Lovely converted barn which has been decorated to make it snug and homely. We were disappointed that there was no Christmas tree as it was early December. We go away every December and there is always a Christmas tree in the different places we stay. Underfloor heating was lovely! Plenty of ameneties in the property. We stayed in all weekend and cooked all meals and there was everything we needed. The cottage is in the middle of nowhere so you do need a car. The local pub was a drive away which was a shame as it's nice to be able to walk somewhere for a drink or two. The cottage was excellent value for money. We all had a lovely time and would definitely recommend.

Fabulous home from home. So spacious and comfortable. We had 4 generations staying and it was just right. Beautiful setting in the Norfolk countryside and plenty of wildlife to welcome us each morning.

The cottage was OK plenty of room for our needs however it wasn't that clean we found a lot of cobwebs dusty my son dropped something under the sette as I moved it ,it was odiously hadn't been cleaned in a while the Lino was torn in the kitchen the kettle was full of lime scale the bathroom shelf was dirty in the hallway lights didn't work in one bedroom ours the lamp didn't work ( I like to read at night but couldn't ) the rug in the room was looking shabby , but overall did suit our needs would I stay here again NO we have been to Norfolk three times now and looking for a different holiday destination .

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Guests only need to ask and new light bulbs would have been supplied during their stay. We have spoken to our cleaning company about the issues raised. We are naturally disappointed to have received this review as we have previously received positive reviews from our guests.

Monks Barn is a lovely cottage and mostly well equipped for large families. The location is fairly remote but lovely and offers easy access to both Norwich or the coast at Great Yarmouth and Gorleston-on-Sea. The automatic lighting in the hallways is very heplful for small children as they can't leave lights on but are able to go the bathrooms easily at night. The new barbecue was very good and we enjoyed a couple of nights al fresco dining. Loved the large dining table in the kitchen and the only personal observations I would make is there could be more teaspoons, serving/salad bowls and some large size mugs but other than that it was great! We also booked a hot tub with Norfolk Spa and Leisure which was efficiently delivered and set up before we arrived and had plenty of use during the week!

We had a lovely stay. It was very comfortable and a lovely peaceful location, surrounded by wildlife and pretty walks. Our only issue was some of the cleaning left a little to be desired. Watermarked taps and shower cubicle and dirty windows. Nothing terrible but something we noticed. We also thought 3 out of the 4 single bed mattresses were awful - very uncomfortable, you could feel every spring. As I say just a couple of niggly bits but overall a lovely stay. Thank you

This is the third time we have stayed in monks barn, it is in a lovely location and the small fishing lake is an added bonus, some of the house is getting a bit tired now and the bathrooms could do with a spruce up , the main bathroom shower is hard to moderate the water hot then cold, the kitchen work tops are worn and blistered! But the view of the horses outside is lovely, the space of the barn is great for a family holiday , the kids love the garden and the new garden furniture was great, the barbecue was dirty when we went to use it! The new dishwasher works well, the tumble drier did not seem to be working so we put the washing on the line but only a few pegs and not many teaspoons in drawer otherwise the kitchen has good equipment! New fridge freezer was good! Bedrooms were comfortable, we enjoyed our week at Monks Barn
