Cramped quarters and the not very clean kitchen made this conveniently located cottage a bit of a disappointment. We liked: how close we were to almost anywhere in the Highlands; the beautiful loch; the amazing freshly-baked croissants from the village shop (who knew!?) We thought the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms spotless, the laundry facilities a plus. The owners were pleasant and the neighbours by and large friendly. But beware the cramped quarters downstairs. If four people sit at the kitchen table there is NO room to walk around the table, and it is cramped in the kitchen even with no one at the table. The dark and gloomy living room has (only) two sofas, one WAY too soft, the other hard as a rock (we started to feel like Goldilocks). The dishes in the cupboards were dirty; there was loads of who knows how old food in the cupboards which smelled musty, and the filters in the kitchen stove were so full of grease that we spent the first evening cleaning the stove before we used it. That said, there were plenty of utensils, glasses and dishes, and stuff like cling film and foil. The conservatory was where we spent all our time, and it was pleasant. We did think it a bit much that this "dog friendly" accommodation only allowed dogs in the conservatory and kitchen, especially since both rooms were so very small. If it said that in the small print, I have been unable to find it. Did we have fun: yes. Did we sleep well: yes. Was it nice: not really. My partner, when asked if he would stay there again responded "do I have to?" That kind of says it all.
