This delightful cottage is fantastic for keen walkers or cyclists as there are many routes starting right from the doorstep!

This very comfortable detached holiday property is wonderfully situated in peaceful Glen Lethnot, one of the five Angus Glens, yet just 5 miles away from the lovely village of Edzell in the heart of Angus. A gloriously peaceful setting, which is great walking and cycling country with a variety of routes starting right at the garden gate or a short car journey to reach the other glens in the area. The peace and quiet encourages a host of wildlife including red squirrels and a variety of birds (including the greater spotted woodpecker) visit the feeders in the garden and red kites can be seen overhead. The secure and well established garden has outdoor furniture, sand pit and a BBQ, as well as a large summer house with a full-sized table tennis table. The West Water flows past the property and fishing permits can be obtained from Brechin which is a short drive away. The area is rich in history from the 2000 year old Caterthun Hill Forts which overlook the property, to the picturesque ruins of Edzell Castle, the House of Dun near Montrose and Barrie’s birthplace in Kirriemuir which are just to name a few. Golfers can obtain day tickets at Edzell, Brechin, Montrose and Forfar. Beach 20 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 5½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with laminate floor. Dining room/kitchen. Utility room. 3 bedrooms: 2 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Very peaceful. And lots of birds to watch out for. Just remember the nearest shop is 5 miles away over narrow lanes so don't forget anything vital. It was lovely to be so out of the way.

A well stocked, clean and home from home cottage. Both our dogs were allowed to go with us. The garden is entirely closed in, so I knew that they were safe. The owners were very nice.

Unfortunately, major water main works were taking place that we had not been made aware of prior to our stay. These works according to a local water company letter found in the property are to upgrade the water main to the nearby small school. Two days we were subject to heavy machinery noises working from 7am until 6pm. Not a nice and quiet location as expected. The area directly outside the property was quite a mess from the excavations for the new pipe. Spoilt the holiday really as we were expecting peace and quiet out in a tiny hamlet in the countryside. The property itself was very good however, we enjoyed the games room during the evenings when all was quite again. If we had been made aware of the works going ahead, at least we could have made a decision to visit or not. In this case, probably not.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Scottish water worked over several months laying new water pipes for the whole glen with Mo Dhachaidh being the last property. Unfortunately due to a late snow fall the work required ran into a few days into this guests’ visit. I had left several messages on both numbers on the booking form attempting to discuss the situation. I had a call on the day of arrival from a different mobile but the poor signal prevented a conversation. I also called twice at the cottage after their arrival but no-one was “home”. I can only apologise that they felt the holiday was spoilt by the last two days of this essential work overlapping their week in what is a tranquil area.
