While the estate and facilities on it were fabulous, we weren't all too happy with the accommodation. It was rather a tight squeeze for 7 people and was not very clean. Surfaces were clean but there were plentiful cobwebs that were clearly there for a long period of time. The window frames were very sticky and almost impossible to open, which was unfortunate because it was a very hot weekend. We found that many of the dishes were not clean either and we found ourselves having to wash a lot of them before we could use them.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your comments. I am truly sorry that you felt the cottage was not up to the cleanliness standards you would have hoped for but glad you enjoyed the facilities. I have spoken with my cleaners who normally do a superb job. The previous reviews have all been excellent nevertheless, we have made the cleaners aware of the issues you have raised. The cottage is situated overlooking a lake and, as a result, from time to time we get some small cobwebs on the outside of the windows. At this time of year they are a little harder to control than usual but they have now all been removed as part of our regular exterior maintenance contract. I personally checked the house the week before your visit and found it to be immaculate. We have hermetically sealed wooden sash windows which slide and tilt. Perhaps due to the warm weather they might have expanded, I have checked them all and they seem to be working perfectly. I was at Lower Mill all weekend as you were aware and would have been delighted to have sorted these issues had you contacted me.

Thank you for a lovely stay! We loved the cottage and the surroundings. Had a great time and would definitely returned. Only criticisms would be that it is quite difficult to find as we were told to go down the stone bridge way but almost went the wrong stone bridge! No issues though as we soon found it :) the games have pieces missing but we had some of our own so no problem. Would also have been nice to have a bigger TV as it was hard to see from sofa but we only used it when others were getting ready so just scooted a chair forward :) otherwise absolutely nothing bad to say. Beautiful place, very clean, helpful hosts.

Fiona was wonderful in sending all information and even phoned on the day to give us clear directions. As we arrived fairly late at night, we were very happy to have such detailed instructions and finding the cottage turned into a fun nocturnal treasure hunt. The location is ideal, opposite a beautiful and peaceful lake, in a very safe and secure residence. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and was spotlessly clean, with all convenient amenities. Parking wasn't an issue given that the instructions were clear from the beginning (one car can park by the cottage, others need to park in the overflow car park only 2min walk away) and also being in winter, the village wasnt in full flow so there was plenty of space for everyone. Thank you very much for a such a cosy and relaxing stay, I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

We had a good stay. The location is good. It's easier to go to a few important tourism sites including Bath, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and villages in Cotswold. The facilities are good even though we couldn't use the pool due to the season. The lake is beautiful and the walking trails convenient and nice. The house is clean, cozy and well equipped. The owner is very helpful
