On Lake Windermere, this beautiful house boasts inspirational decor and enjoys an enclosed decked terrace.

A magical setting on the shores of Lake Windermere providing the perfect holiday location. This exceptional house, one of a pair, offers spacious, light rooms and inspirational contemporary decor and lighting. Situated at the southern tip of the lake, it is set in 4 acres of paddock and woods with a beck bordering one side and 150 metres of lake frontage. There is also an enclosed garden with decked terrace. The southern Lake District offers a spectacular choice of activities from watersports to mountain climbing, cycling and walking. Magnificent scenery surrounds visitors in every direction and there are many cultural events throughout the year around the lakes and at the historic castles, houses and gardens which abound in this area. The nearby village of Lakeside, 1½ miles, is home to the Aquarium of the Lakes and the Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway - a great favourite with families and train enthusiasts. Bowness-on-Windermere, 7 miles, is a vibrant village with stylish boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, museums and the Beatrix Potter Exhibition. From here there is also a small car ferry across the lake to Sawrey, Hawkshead, the Grizedale Forest and Coniston, and the tourist boats for trips to Ambleside or a leisurely scenic excursion around the islands. Alternatively, simply relax in the grounds with a picnic. This property is under the same ownership as Home Farm (LN2). Shop ½ mile, pub ¼ mile.

    A large, very modern property in a good location, though the open plan ensuites will not appeal to everyone. The roads outside can also be very busy and noisy, late into the night. The living areas are very spacious and ideal for a large family group. The property is well equipped, though unfortunately lacking in maintenance in some areas, and the appliances such as the electric Aga cooker and the built-in coffee maker can be difficult to operate, as there are no instructions remaining. Overall, a spacious, well located property that provided the space that we required for 4 adult couples on a family reunion. However, the property is now up for sale, which sadly reflects the lack of interest/maintenance being shown by the current owners.

    We were a party of 8 adults and chose this property because of the 4 en-suite bedrooms. We had a lovely weekend, the downstairs rooms offer a really nice combination of seating areas, the open plan kitchen / dining / small lounge area is spacious and great for the whole party while food is being prepared and eaten. The lounge that leads off this area has a lovely raised open fire (shame we had to provide our own fuel) and the TV lounge could almost be described as a cinema room. Unfortunately the property has a rather tired feeling to it, the outside areas are very untidy, weeds growing through all over and the windows & doors were all very dirty. The bedroom with the en-suite wet-room was very smelly (damp), the wet-room itself needs a deep clean. One of the other bedrooms was very dusty with lots of cobwebs. The towels all need replacing. There are lots of scuff marks on the walls and chipped paintwork, some of the cushions on the sofa were badly frayed, place mats etc are badly worn, microwave doesn't work - these things individually don't amount to much but when added together do not reflect the standard expected from a 4/5* property. There is no longer access to 4 acres of paddock and woods and access to the lake frontage has been fenced off.

We can only apologise that you did not find the property up to the standard we normally offer, as you will see with previous comments, the vast majority of our guests are treated with true 5* luxury. We always take on board the comments which are made and have updated certain elements of the cottage to ensure that the cottage is freshly refurbished for all future guests.
