The properties have an added advantage of being in a quiet location but just a short walk to Barnard Castle, 500 yards, a picturesque market town on the River Tees. The town offers a good choice of tea rooms, shops and restaurants, and in the neighbouring villages there are several good country inns. Enjoy woodland walks, cycling and picnics from the moment you step outside the front door. Nearby Hamsterley Forest is a beautiful oasis of woodland, with coffee shops and trails, suitable for walking and cycling. Visit the beautiful gardens at Eggleston Hall. Other attractions in the area include the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle and High Force Waterfall, whilst within an hour’s drive there are the Lakes, Beamish and the city of Durham. Barnard Castle also boasts a beautiful 18-hole golf course. The neighbouring villages of Boldron, Romaldkirk and Cotherstone are but a few offering excellent eating places.
