Description

Comfortable barn conversion, in pleasant rural location with countryside views, Richmond with its castle close by, Yorkshire Dales easily reached.

Converted from an 18th century barn, Mill Cottage offers a comfortable and very convenient base for touring North Yorkshire and County Durham. A pleasant sitting out area offers country views and visitors enjoy shared use, with the owners, of a fenced 3 acre field (ideal for dog exercise). Adjacent to the owners’ home, near to the main road, it is located between Richmond, 8 miles, with its castle, swimming pool and Georgian theatre, and Barnard Castle, 10 miles. The Yorkshire Dales and Moors are both within easy reach, and the northern Lake District is an hour’s scenic drive. The Bowes Museum and Raby Castle are easily accessible. Lovely walking close to the Pennine Way, golf and riding locally. Award-winning Mainsgill Farm Shop and Tea room, and pub serving food 0.5 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining area/kitchen with beams. 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 2 single. Shower room with toilet.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. Freesat TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Microwave. Sitting-out area and furniture. Access to fenced 3.5-acre field. Parking. No smoking.

Cottage was comfortable and well equipped, well positioned to travel around from but it would have been nice to be able to walk somewhere other than the paddock with the dog. The A66 is too busy to even walk 200yds to the pub and no pathway.

Lovely place to stay in, close to the A1 so really useful for days out. Lovely family who were really welcoming.
