A four star property situated by the banks of the River Rothay just 500 yards from the centre of Ambleside.

Just 500 yards from the centre of vibrant Ambleside, Middlebeck Cottage is one of two small cottages adjoining Riverside Lodge, a property of immense charm and character in a unique location on the banks of the River Rothay which flows through the grounds of the property before running into Lake Windermere. Within a level stroll from the cottage you will find a host of restaurants and activities to suit all ages. Ambleside is well served with numerous attractions including two cinemas, the Armitt Museum depicting the life and times of the village, tennis courts, bowling green and even and indoor climbing wall. Middlebeck Cottage is a four star, quality self catering cottage offering great character and charm for two occupants, the perfect choice for a romantic break at any time of the year. The cottage offers mesmerising views of the riverbank from all rooms, across the lush green garden areas and beyond to Loughrigg Fell, very tempting to the walkers among you! Middlebeck Cottage has a outdoor patio overlooking the river and a spacious car park just across the private foot bridge from the property. Middlebeck Cottage can be booked in conjunction with Overbeck Cottage Ref 123247 which is next door.The property is within a few metres of the River Rothay (which flows through the garden) where fishing is available: Type of fishing: limited fly fishing. Locals tend to use worm or spinner.Type of fish: The river holds brown trout. Very occasional late season salmon and sea trout turn up. Chub and roach are possible but unlikely.Licence: An Environmental Agency rod licence is required. These are available online www.postoffice.co.uk. The stretch of water is outside of WADAA control hence no additional licence is required. Months: 15th March – 30th September. Closed season is 1st October to 14th March. All gas, electric, bed linen and towels included. Sorry no travel cot or high chair available as the property is not suitable for babies or children, couples only will be accepted. Free wi-fi internet access provided. Outside: Private off road parking. The access to the property is from the main parking area and via a private footbridge. You can pull up on the roadside if you wish to unload directly outside the property. Patio area with seating. Shared garden area

    Fantastic property in a great central location. Well equipped and really surprised by the lovely welcome hamper. Only complaint would be lack of a second toilet but guess you can't really do much about that!

    A sixth straight return to these cottages says it all. They are perfectly placed to explore any part of this area of the Lakes and are also just far enough away from the hive of activity in the town. The cottage has everything you need for two people to live comfortably for their stay. Park the car and walk or cycle in any direction to do a different route everyday. The additional storage space for cycles makes this cottage our first choice stay every year. The welcome basket from the owner makes you feel that they are committed to ensuring your stay starts and finishes in a positive manner. Thank you so much to the owner for yet another perfect holiday.

    Unbelievably perfect location situated equidistant between the ferry ports at Waterhead and Ambleside town centre (easy walking distance to both). We had more than enough walking and sightseeing to do without needing to use the car the whole week. Absolutely spotless and very well equipped. Lovely garden area to sit out in. Will definitely stay here again.
