Lovely cottage in an out of the way location. Perfect for a get away from it all escape. Cottage was immaculate and hot tub clean and large! Sarah very helpful and although there were some dogs nearby we didn't hear them and found it extremely quiet. We would love to have stayed longer and hope to go again A1 access very close by.

Lovely cottage. Very clean and well presented. We really enjoyed our stay at Merlins cottage and would definitely stay again. The bed was very comfortable in master bedroom and we liked the wet room ensuite shower. Hot tub was clean and enjoyable which just added a little something extra to our stay, and after our days out and about was great to relax in during the evenings.

Cottage needed a damn good clean. Telly was smaller than advertisement, also not a good signal and no cd player. it needs a bit more thought- no where to hang long clothes,no hooks behind doors and needs more cutlery and crockery 4 of everything is not enough. Mysterious wire hanging out of the wall. Windows upstairs were green and downstairs cobwebs everywhere. Felt overlooked by the farmhouse next door. No welcome pack as described by previous occupants. Very noisy dogs at the farmhouse.

the cottage was nice, all the things you need for self catering were there. sadly , the hot tub had not been emptied and cleaned from the last visitors and it was unusable. the owner didnt want to accept this and threatened to fine us for making it dirty (see previous reviews) it would be better rented out with no hot tub if it is not going to be attended to

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We thank you for your feedback and can assure you any maintenance needs brought to our attention are acted on promptly as our priority is the well-being of our guests. The Hot tub is checked on a daily basis chemicals added as necessary on a daily basis. The water is changed, filter changed and chemicals added between each guests. We also photograph the hot tub before each guest arrives to assure guests of water clarity. Unfortunately some guests do not shower before using the hot tub causing the water to discolour, despite notices asking guests to do so.

My family and I had an amazing time, Sarah was really nice and very helpful with loads of local knowledge, the Lodge is out in the countryside but only 15 minutes from Grantham and Newark so there's lots to do, the Lodge is well equipped with a good kitchen area and a coffee machine, the lounge had space for our son to play and a comfortable couch, the hot tub was wonderful to relax in and the whole place had a relaxed feel to it. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Im not one to complain. That's why I did not complain to the owners. This is because they are new to letting there cottage. However. Light film of dust in certain areas of property. Cobwebs and spider in bottom corner of bathroom, where pipes are. cobweb on main light in living room. Looks like mould on wooden panel of door frame at bottom. Hot tub was not very hot? Plus white bits floating in water, not sure if it was from the white floating square in hot tub. Internet was very poor, i had to go to Mcdonalds 4.5 miles away to get internet on laptop. Internet needs improving. it says only marginal, to fair. Freeview not always good, i think as I had bad weather this affected reception. Dogs barking, neighbour had some sort of machinery going during day and night, not sure what it was. Still hear it slightly when doors are closed.

A very nicely presented compact property. Warm and comfortable. Location is convenient for surrounding towns but by own car only; no public transport or local facilities within walking distance. Property is very confined within adjoining farmyard and does lack any real garden space but has a private courtyard area and ample parking. Small point - a little more cutlery and crockery would be useful!
