This apartment is in the ideal location to enjoy a relaxing seaside holiday, with a beach just 200 yards away.

These two holiday apartments (refs 29565 and 29566) are adjacent to the owner’s house and located in the coastal village of Blue Anchor. Well-appointed and presented, the apartments are ideal for those looking for a comfortable haven whilst exploring this delightful area of Somerset. The apartments benefit from a shared garden and hot tub with views over the Bristol Channel and the renowned West Somerset Railway, and they even have a shared laundry room, with washing machine and tumble dryer that guests can use. The properties are located a short walk from Blue Anchor Beach, the sandy part is tidal, and the Blue Anchor Station for the steam railway. There are also local shops, pub and restaurants within walking distance. Further beaches can be found at Dunster and Porlock. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor. Visit the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Enjoy a walk and an ice cream on the promenade at Minehead, which also has a good array of shops. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in steam engines. Dunster Castle (NT) with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill, or Porlock Weir make for an interesting day out. Perfect for the whole family, there is a public indoor swimming pool situated just ¼ mile away. Beach 200 yards, cafe 400 yards and swimming pool 500 yards. Shop 500 yards, pubs and restaurant ½ mile.

    Our family of three had a very nice holiday at Applegarth and greatly enjoyed its convenient location next to the steam railway which allowed us many enjoyable day trips (tip - buy a freedom of the lines pass 2 weeks in advance to save £££). However, we regularly wondered about how cramped it would be if a group of six was staying there, elbow to elbow with only one loo! The lack of a dishwasher is because the modest sized kitchen has to accommodate a dining table to seat six, for example, whereas it would be possible to include such modern conveniences otherwise. I would be giving it much higher ratings if it was being targeted at a maximum of four guests, with the space currently used for extra beds and chairs being used to increase the comfort, equipment and facilities to make for a more restful and convenient holiday.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry to hear that during your stay with us you had concerns and were not 100% happy with Applegarth Apartment. We value guests’ feedback and have taken your comments on board. Applegarth Apartment has been furnished to cater for 6 people for many years and up until now comments about lack of space, no dishwasher and the need for an extra loo have not been raised. Applegarth Apartment is rated as 3 star accommodation and, as such, the requirement is for one bathroom and one WC to be available for every eight guests and a dishwasher does not have to be provided. It is only when you upgrade to 4 or 5 star accommodation that these additional facilities become necessary. Our listing on clearly shows our star rating and gives a list of facilities and equipment available within the apartment. However, we hear what you say and during the winter refurbishment we will be considering the addition of a dishwasher to the kitchen. We hope the comments you left in the Guest book indicate that you still managed to have an enjoyable stay with us and that we may be able to accommodate you again sometime in the future.

    Lovely apartment, with lovely gardens, which the kids enjoyed very much. We even saw a woodpecker in the garden on our first morning there. The steam trains pass very close by too. Only downside really was that there was only just enough space for the 5 of us. That said we would definitely consider staying here again. The beach is very close by, but is quite stony, and muddy at low tide, which wasn't a problem for us but could be if you're into spending lots of time building sandcastles, also dogs are allowed on the beach which didn't go down well with our daughter as she's very scared of dogs.

    Stayed at Applegarth for a week in August, very clean and comfortable apartment with everything we needed being available. The owners were friendly and we liked the hot tub, the garden and the sea views with the steam train running past the bottom of the garden. There was a nice pub within walking distance with excellent food and friendly staff, A cafe was also close by serving reasonably priced cooked breakfasts. There were a number of take aways that delivered to the apartment although we only used one of them once and the food was ok. Our grand daughter was a little disappointed that the local beach wasn't really suitable so we had to travel a couple of miles to Dunster but that was ok. Overall we had a really nice holiday and we liked the apartment, If we were to return to the area again we would definitely stay at applegarth again.

    Great place to stay with everything you could need. Beautiful gardens with hot tub and bbq. Great views, very comfortable accomodation. Lovely hosts and felt very looked after.

    Have just spent a lovely weekend in this cottage. Excellent garden to sit and relax in with the steam train line at the bottom and then the sea just the other side. Brilliant hot tub. Even a BBQ for you to use, along with outside eating area. Hosts were lovely, cottage very clean and comfy beds. Would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to visit again

    The apartment was well equipped, comfortable and clean with a lovely sea view, and a well kept garden. The hot tub was very relaxing.
