Description

Located in the family-friendly seaside resort of Perranporth, this property is the ideal touring base.

Beautifully presented, with gardens to the front and rear, Mellow Cottage is the ideal base to relax and unwind. This holiday cottage sits on a quiet road, just minutes from the bustling and family-friendly resort of Perranporth.
Perranporth is very popular with families, due to its 2 miles of golden sands, complete with surf hire, rock pools and a popular beach bar that serves home-cooked food and local ales, and hosts live music right on the beach. A golf course backs the town, as does a wide expanse of sand dunes, complete with an ancient buried church, an ideal walking area.

Numerous tourist attractions can be found nearby, including Holywell Bay Fun Park, Lappa Valley Steam Railway, National Trust houses and gardens, Creally Adventure Park, Dairyland Theme Park and Newquay Zoo. Sea fishing and boat trips can be arranged from Newquay, and a short drive up the coastal road will bring you to Watergate Bay, the home of Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen (booking essential). Beaches, surfing, cycling, walking, dramatic cliffs, horse riding, woodland walks and a local cider farm are all available close by.

Padstow, the home of Rick Stein’s Food Empire, is a short drive along the coast. His fish and chip shop is located in Newquay, or meander around the town, with lanes full of galleries, craft shops, gift shops and local pubs, and visit the harbour for a clotted cream ice cream whilst watching the fishing boats in the harbour. Truro, the county capital with its local shops, cathedral cinema, theatre and abundance of fine restaurants is also worth a visit. Beach 400 yards. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Located about a 5-10 minute stroll into Perranporth with parking for two cars, Mellow Cottage was in an excellent location. Turn left out of the house to the top of the cliffs with a panoramic view of the beautiful beach, or right for access to the shops/restaurants in the town. Short, steep uphill walk from town but not enough to cause a concern. At the end of the road was a bus stop that takes you to St Agnes and Truro which was handy for walks and sightseeing. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedrooms lovely and having a second toilet upstairs was definitely a bonus with teenage boys in the house! Arriving after a long drive it was lovely to see milk, apple juice and cold water in the fridge plus biscuits/fudge to enjoy. Really thoughtful. I would definitely return as Perranporth is a smashing beachside town and the house location meant not having to use the car.

The house was in nice location but was not clean , the decking and steps in garden was dangerous

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I am sorry to hear that you found Mellow Cottage not clean. We pride ourselves in always leaving our cottage to the highest standards for our guests as all our previous reviews show. Unfortunately your decision to turn up at 11.30 on changeover morning when cleaning was in progress and then return at 1.30 expecting to take over the property even though the cleaner said she would phone you as soon as she finished. If any cleaning had not been done although I know they worked very hard to accommodate you, was probably due to having to finish over 2 hours early. I am sorry you also felt that the decking was dangerous when wet. This does happen to most decking and we do mention in our handbook that when wet the decking can be slippery. I am sorry that you happen to have had a week when the British summer weather was at its worst.

We visited purposely out of season so some shops were shut as expected. However this cottage is brilliant.. a short walk to town and the beach... which is excellent.. the shops which were open delivered all we needed for our stay... we would highly recommend this cottage... all you would need in a character filled cottage.. loved it and will return soon!!

Excellent, well equipped cottage in a lovely seaside village with a fantastic beach. We went as a family of five with a dog and there was lots of room for us. The cottage is on a quiet road so no traffic noise but is still only a short walk from the town and beach. Good quality beds and furniture throughout. Lovely walk in shower and a deep luxurious bath. The owner has clearly put a lot of time and thought into the cottage with lots of art on display.
