Maupertuis is a lovely place to stay. The owners are just wonderful - very helpful, conscientious and always willing to converse, even with our 'pigeon French'! The owner even has a 'chat and translate' app on his phone, which certainly makes conversation and details about the stay that bit easier! The area has lots of great chateaus within easy driving distances, amongst many other places to visit - pretty much something for all ages and interests. Our only problem really is that the beds are on the small side for my tall hubby (6'3") and there isn't what us Brits would call a 'lounge' to chill in... (formal dining room with leather lounge chairs around the edges. But considering its location and the added bonus of the pool, I would say it makes up for it. I can't stress how helpful and friendly the owners are too, a very lovely couple :)

We have stayed at many gites but this was by far the best. The house is fabulous with a great history. It is very well equipped with absolutely everything you could need - and more! There are loads of spots on the property to eat in or out - the huge conservatory was a favourite. The grounds are extensive and beautifully kept. The heated pool is amazing with its own shower and changing rooms plus there is a large table tennis room which was well used as was the lighted boules court in the garden. It is a lovely 20 minute walk to town through country lanes down to the Jardin Publique. The owners, Michel and Jeanne, are absolutely delightful and incredibly generous with gifts of bottles of wine and the local biscuits when we arrived followed up with garden produce, eggs, chocolates and - best of all - Michel's delicious home made Calva! We would recommend Maupertuis without hesitation - we will definitely be back.

Excellent property to stay in. Ideally located far enough from the town to be quiet but close enough to walk to. Just about everything you would need is already there. The owners are very friendly and helpful but please note they do not speak English so brush up on your French. Pool was a great feature especially as the weather was hit and miss. We would (and intend) to go back.

Cottage was ok. We were going to leave about nine in day of departure, but I was a bit annoyed that we were asked to leave at 8.30 as they had other guests arriving. We were entitled to stay until ten so I dont feel we should have been asked to leave early.
