Marple Cottage truly sets the scene for a romantic trip away; admire the views and walks that can be enjoyed from here.

"In rich rolling acres of natural grounds – just a riverside walk from the beach and sea . . ."

Just a mile or so from the beach and picturesque harbour at Lyme Regis, this attractive cluster of individually owned holiday cottages enjoys a peaceful setting in an area of exceptional natural beauty. Skilfully converted from a range of lovely old stone barns, they are surrounded by acres of pastures with abundant wildlife, including deer and badgers. Fitted and furnished to comfortable standards throughout, each holiday cottage is independently owned and has its own sunny patio at the front with peaceful and uninterrupted views over a picturesque pond and the countryside beyond. A lovely riverside walk leads to historic Lyme Regis, passing through wonderful countryside with no roads to mar the views. The rolling farmland scenery is easily enjoyed via the 28-mile network of local footpaths and bridleways, including the World Heritage Dorset Coastal Path (½ mile) and its spectacular Jurassic coast.
Accessible within 4 minutes by car or via a walk over fields and along the riverbank, Lyme Regis is one of England’s most memorable small towns. It is famous as the setting for both the story and film of The French Lieutenant’s Woman, with its harbour bright with boats, streets of elegant colour-washed buildings, lofty cliffs and a great sweep of sea. Inns, restaurants and a choice of shops can be found amongst the town’s attractive jumble of narrow streets, and it is a notable water sports centre. Motor boats can be hired, and there are fishing trips, a sailing school and club, and a wind-surfing school. There is also a sports complex at Axminster (4 miles) which offers swimming and other facilities. For nature lovers, the area has some of the most diverse scenery in the country: Lyme Bay sweeps round from the National Nature Reserve on the Dowlands Cliffs in an uninterrupted arc along the huge bank of shingle that is Chesil Beach, all the way to the limestone slab of the Isle of Portland. The 626-ft Golden Cap, a breathtaking viewpoint and part of a lovely 2,000-acre NT estate, is the highest point on England’s south coast, a World Heritage Site. An easy drive to Bridport, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exeter and Dorchester. For families there are many lovely beaches close at hand, and a theme park (Crealy Park) near Exeter. Lyme Regis golf course is within ½ mile and visitors are welcome to use the golf course, or to visit their bar and restaurant. Each cottage has a comprehensive information folder giving details of local pubs, restaurants, shops, walks, excursions and many interesting facts about Lyme Regis and finding fossils along the Jurassic coast. Shops 1 mile.

Morse Cottage (DJM) and Marple Cottage (DJL) with their old world charm offer very similar and comfortable accommodation. They each have a stable door entrance into a cosy beamed living room with electric woodburner, dining area and well-equipped kitchen. First floor: Attractive double bedroom with beams and sloping ceiling. Large bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Late booking but very pleased with the choice. A cosy, well equipped and comfortable cottage which was very easy to settle in and to feel at home. If we holiday again in Lyme Regis we would happily return to Marple Cottage.

Well-appointed, convenient providing that you have your own transport, quiet and comfortable. Small fridge for our purposes (having to cater for ourselves and carry quantities of food). Informative handbook and lots of helpful brochures (visits, sights etc).

Lovely cosy cottage in the countryside but with easy access to the town and beach (the road works and road closures being temporary) Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Very comfortable bed and seating in the living room. Staff friendly and very helpful.

Marple Cottage was a lovely location and there were no access issues and overall the cottage was warm and comfortable. However more attention is required to the cottages maintenance and equipping if it is to remain an attractive, welcoming and safe let. On arrival we found a badly chipped mug and plate which of course can transfer infections if not replaced. These were both set aside and a note attached for the cleaners. AS only 2 of everything was supplied we were short and bought additional mugs for our own use. The tiled walls and bath surround require maintenance work as there are cracked tiles and the grout is badly contaminated with mould. A small maintenance job but currently unsightly and could cause infection. There were 2 casserole pans but no lids!!!! It only takes a little more care and attention to detail to bring a pleasant cottage back up to the expected and required standards.

Firstly i have to say that the "red and black pole" telling you where to turn for the cottage is actually "yellow and black", we had no problem but others might. Lovely cottage in a nice rural location but only 3 mins drive from the main road, in the garden is a pond and we saw pheasants, rabbits, herons and many lovely birds, late at night i also spotted a fox. The cottage is well presented and everything you would need is at hand, even though there are 2 cottages attached we never heard a sound from anyone. We would not hesitate returning in the future.

I would have preferred a sofa rather than 2 chairs to sit on but that is my personal opinion

A delightful spot for a winter break. We explored an area new to us and will definitely return.. Just remember that many places are closed in January!
