Have visited this gite many times and as always it was warm and cosy with space to spread out. Well equipped. Owners live next door and are friendly and helpful. A week was too short and went so quickly. Can't wait to return.

Good cottage and location. Easy walk into Hesdin for bars and resturants. Good selection of supermarkets locally. Excellent selection of vegetables at owners shop.

Last time we visited this area of France we went to the beaches at Boulogne and le Touquet. As it wasn't really beach weather this year we visited towns and a castle which were educational and not too expensive. We enjoyed eating French bread and practising our French skills (which still need lots more work!) The cottage itself was very spacious with two large bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. It looked ideal for two families to visit. The owners have an amazing vegetable shop across the courtyard from the cottage which was fun to visit. There is also a Nestle pet food factory nearby which you could sometimes smell when you were outside, although the smell wasn't unpleasant.

We had a good time exploring the local area , the Somme and beaches. We were just surprised how quiet it was in Hesdin. One night , a Wednesday there was only 2 restaurants open. Just a bit too quiet. We would have hoped for a warmer welcome from the hosts, maybe leaving some milk , cheese, bread or just something. It felt like the floor needed a really deep clean and there was no vacuum or proper mop to clean it. The dogs were ok but there was the odd dog 'issue' to contend with outside the property. When the wind blows the wrong way the smell of pet food from the Nestle factory is very off pitting on a summers evening! That alone would mean we would not return to this house and I am quite disappointed this was never mentioned.

The cottage, the family, Marconnelle and Hesdin were all very nice and satisfactory. The only problem is the Nestle Purina pet food factory, its about 300 metres from the cottage. It operates any time of the day or night (not continuously) for long periods and smells awful. A real shame because its a very nice setting just what we wanted.

Despite the confusion of us arriving on the Sat, correct day and not being expected until Sun by the owner our holiday was good. I think we would have scored hirer as Madam had not finished cleaning when we arrived and we took it over in the condition as seen.
