The house is situated in a perfect place to explore Edinburgh via the buses. However, Corstophine itself offers enough shops that you wouldn't need to leave if you did not want to. This was our second visit to Edinburgh and we visited Edinburgh Castle, the Edinburgh Bus Tour (hop on, hop off), The National Museum of Scotland, Mary King's Close, Midhope Castle (for anybody who is a fan of Outlander it is also know as Lallybroch!) and lots of the shops in Edinburgh. The house could do with a little bit of TLC as there are problems with the heating and the radiator in the bathroom leaking. The owners were very quick in sorting out the fridge which broke on our first day there. However for the price of the cottage right on the outskirts of Edinburgh, we could not ask for anything better!

We have just returned from manse cottage after staying for 1 week, 2 adults and 2 children. The flat was lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was great with lots of shops and pubs locally. The Corstorphine Inn just over the road is great for food and drinks. The bus stop is 10 minute walk and once we parked up the car we didn't use it all week. It's was £8.50 for a family day pass on the Lothian buses which are very frequent. We did have to drive around a few times until we got a parking space near to the property but as we didn't move the car again during our stay it was fine. There is a park within easy walking distance too which the kids enjoyed. We walked to the zoo from the cottage, it was about 2/3 mile down the main road, you go past the Toby carvery or Wetherspoons for breakfast. Overall we had a fantastic stay and there was lots to do in Edinburgh itself, we would definitely visit again. The owner of cottage was very helpful during contact.

Really enjoyed the cottage. Grew up in the local area. Only thing I didn't like was the housekeeper attending on Christmas Day.

The cottage is really well equipped with everything that you would need, included extras like shortbread and wine which was a lovely touch! The cottage is much bigger than it is in the picture and even though others have mentioned that parking is an issue, we found a parking space on Manse Road and didn't move the car for the rest of the week as we used the buses to get everywhere! The zoo is a must do, only a 15 minute walk away and seeing the pandas is amazing! Also recommend the Sightseeing Bus tour, The Real Mary King's close and Dynamic Earth. Buses leave from the bus stop opposite the Toby Carvery regularly and the 26 and 38 take you to Princes Street where you can easily access nearly all tourist attractions. We are coming back again to finish visiting all the places we didn't manage to in a week!

Great! . looks quite modest from the front ( nice street ) but once you go in really good size . It was warm , comfortable , very clean and well equipped . Comfy beds . Bottled of red was nice , thankyou! Basically ticks all the boxes . Kids loved it . You can walk to Zoo in 15 minutes . In city centre in ten minutes on bus . Nice pub and small park literally around the corner . Takeaway across the road , good little supermarket at the bottom of the street . happily stay there Again .

Basics covered - beds comfortable, adequate seating, warm, clean. However on a junction and roads busier than we anticipated, not a big problem for us could be for some. Buses and shops nearby, pubs too if you want them. However bathroom fittings needing attention especially the wobbly toilet and broken towel rail. The owners are also obviously struggling with black mould in the property, not helped by inadequate ventilation. Could be helped by modern windows which could be locked open during the day.

Really lovely cottage which is superbly equipped and very clean. The owners were extremely helpful and went to great lengths to ensure that my grandson had a lovely 2nd birthday. I would thoroughly recommend this as a holiday cottage which is great value and very comfortable.

We found this cottage delightfully homely, welcoming, comfortably furnished and very well equipped, with many thoughtful extras provided by the owners (eg books, dvds, hairdryer). It was more spacious than the pictures seemed to suggest, and the garden looked very pretty in the May sunshine with bluebells out and the massive tree newly in leaf. The owners were very friendly and helpful on the phone both beforehand and during our stay to answer queries. Although instructions for the appliances were provided, I was still slightly mystified by the central heating, so I felt the controls could have been a bit clearer. Being on the corner of two rather busy roads there was noise from traffic, but this wasn't unduly disturbing, though the pavement by the entrance is very narrow, so a bit of care is needed on going in and out.
