Description

Perfect for a family holiday or group of friends holidaying together, with so much to see and do in the area, one visit will not be enough.

Manor farm (home of the legendary Treacle Mine) is a 15th-century cob cottage attached to the owners’ home with many original features. Located close to Torquay in a quiet off the beaten track location. This spacious property is ideal for families, larger groups or friends wanting to get together, the cottage is close to a farm but retains its privacy. It benefits from 2 living rooms, a large kitchen, spacious bedrooms and a shared enclosed courtyard area, with a private seating area with table and chairs, where the owner has access through. The cottage is ideal for seeing all the English Riviera has to offer, the South West is home to some of England’s most beautiful countryside, and Manor Farm in Daccombe makes an ideal base for exploring. There is something for everyone with outstanding natural coastlines, rugged wild Dartmoor, extensive choice of unique attractions in the country and of course shopping. Just up the road from Manor Farm are ski slopes which are open all year. Torquay offers a wide range of shops and restaurants, and the harbour and marina has historic interest and quayside attractions. Newton Abbot is only a 10-minute drive away and offers traditional markets and shopping. Newton Abbot Racecourse is not only for race enthusiasts, but there are also many events held here. Paignton offers all the fun of a typical English seaside resort with wonderful sandy beaches and a pier, while Brixham with its working fishing port is picturesque and well worth a visit. Dartmoor with its rugged beauty to be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts and also for outings and picnics. Other attractions in the area include the model village at Babbacombe ’miniature landscaping at its best’, with over 450 models to enjoy for all the family, and Paignton Zoo, one of the best zoos and environmental parks in the country. Living Coasts, a fantastic journey around the coastlines of the world next to Torquay Harbour, featured on TV, and which has reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary. Living Coasts has fascinating coastal animals from penguins to seals, puffins to sea ducks. Kent’s Cavern, a National Heritage pre-historic site, where cavemen once lived is fascinating, and you can travel back to the world of cavemen. Picturesque thatched Cockington village in Torquay, has a working forge, craft centre and Norman church, while Berry Head Old Fortess has dramatic open cliffs overlooking Torbay, and enjoys a nature reserve and a beauty spot. Watcombe beach is the nearest beach which is 2 miles, and Oddicombe Beach, with its sand and shingle beach, has moderately easy access and enjoys a cliff lift to take the strain. Beach 2 miles. We had such a lovely weekend here, was a brilliant, cosy getaway. would definitely return. Only rated location as 7 as you need a car to get out anywhere, but we didn't mind that at all anyway.

Stayed at Manor Farm with a group of friends. It was very spacious and had everything you needed to stay and cook for a large group. Couldn't fault anything about the cottage and would highly recommend to anyone.

We stayed for a week in July and all loved it! The people at Manor farm were very welcomimg and friendly. The house was lovely, very clean and spacious. We had 3 dogs and 3 children as well as 8 adults and there was plenty of room for us all. There were so many local places to enjoy and we spent most of our time in Paignton and Torquay visiting the zoo, living coast and beaches. I would highly recommend The Linny pub just a mile or so from the house. Food and service were excellent! Very friendly bunch. All in all very good holiday enjoyed by all. We will be back for sure!

Perfect place on the edge of Torquay. Great quality. Good welcome pack. Off street parking. Cool rooms during the hottest week of the year. Not sure how accessible by roads the cottage would be with snow as the roads are steep and very winding. Would love to stay here again. One of the best we have stayed at.

Had a great time, having three dogs with us would have liked somewhere for them to use up their energy, but we managed. Would recommend to friends and family.

Well presented, well positioned for a quiet break with easy access to the whole of South Devon within minutes. The welcome was warm and honest, we took 3 dogs, 2 Basset Hounds and a Grey Hound, they were very welcome and we were made to feel at home, never bothered by the owner. The welcome pack on arrival was great and just what we needed after a long journey, they have a camping field nxt door, so if you have more friends that cannot afford the house, well they could pitch a tent or caravan. We took two granddaughters 2 and 7, the yard was gated so safety and freedom to wander was never an issue for the children or the dogs. Brilliant holiday
