This magnificent, detached manor house built in the 17th and 18th centuries is still owned by one of the oldest families in the region, and throughout the years they have enhanced the property’s outstanding style, elegance and charm. The owner lives in an apartment attached to the manor with her cats and dog, and the gardens extend to 15 acres, which include a private, salt-water swimming pool with terrace for sunbathing. This very spacious and charming family house provides very comfortable holiday accommodation. Manoir de Mombette is privately situated on a hill overlooking Cénac with views across to the bastide town of Domme. Close by is Sarlat with its fascinating twice-weekly market and historic buildings. The River Dordogne is within walking distance with its riverside beaches. The caves at Lascaux and Padirac as well as La-Roque-Gageac and the spectacular riverside châteaux of Baynac, Fenelon and Castlenaud are also close by. The area can be easily explored by car, bicycle, on foot or by canoe.

Whilst the house was great the facilities are not up to the standard one would expect, particularly the kitchen. The oven was not clean, clearly old and frankly needs replacing. We also experienced continual problems with the electrical supply which kept "tripping" resulting in no hot water for evening showers. One other point which reflects the level of cleaning, the downstairs bathroom light is so full of dead fly's it hardly shows any light. The weekly "clean" seemed to be just changing the bed sheets. The pool beds could also do with a change and perhaps a couple more! One afternoon the umbrella caught the wind and toppled over breaking one of the beds, luckily no one was on it at the time.
